Conservative journalist and Guy From
That Kayak Commercial lookalike Charles C. Johnson has been working overtime, of late, to attract wingnut eyeballs to his GotNews.com website, posting
dubiously-sourced scoops,
smearing dead U.S. hostages, and
publishing the personal information of people involved in topical news stories. Even by the
low standards of
conservative journalism, however, Johnson (not to be confused with
the other Charles Johnson) has sunk to a new low
by releasing what he says is the real name and photograph of “Jackie,” the woman whose account of an alleged gang rape at the University of Virginia formed the basis for a
now-discredited Rolling Stone article,
Johnson recently upped his profile by leading a campaign against certain journalists who reported on the events in Ferguson, Missouri, including The Washington Post‘s Wesley Lowery. When The Washington Post discovered that there were discrepancies in that Rolling Stone article, Johnson saw an opening. Even though there’s still every indication that “Jackie” may have, indeed, been the victim of a sexual assault notwithstanding the apparent contradictions with the Rolling Stone article, Johnson went to work on her, publishing her name and photograph, and digging into social media accounts he says are Jackie’s. Lest you doubt the malicious intent here, Johnson even weirdly described her as his “opponent” in a tweet…READ MORE

Why, why does anyone feel the need or compulsion to attack a victim of a crime? Whether it is a murder, beating, Rape or other heinous crime there are some, usually from the right who relish the pain and humilation they inflict on victims and their friends.

Many claim they need to assume innocence until proven guilty for the accused, so the burden is put upon the person who was raped.

that is diffrent then attacking someone, Being neutral is waiting for proof

I am with you and I completely agree, I am just saying the “explanations” I have heard.

It’s like that with any crime. We can’t just go convicting people of a serious crime without the case being proven.
We saw in Ferguson how people can react when given a false story. There have been many other cases where the initial accusations got people all riled up and ready to lynch someone, only to find out later the truth was far from what we heard in the beginning.
But I think tracey marie was getting at something different. This just isn’t someone wanting to see our system play out.
This Johnson guy has some strange compulsion going on. That’s about all I got. He’s got a screw loose somewhere.

Yup, he does it simply to troll for attention. He has no morals or qualms doing what he does because that means someone will be talking about him, positive or negative does not matter.

When we get older, we look back on our lives and the things we have done and experienced and take stock of how we handled ourselves. I recently said just that to a guy who called me with some scam, saying the government was giving out money. I then asked him if he really wanted to look back at what he’s doing now and see how he wasted time trying to scam people instead of doing something more productive with his life.
We only get one shot at this mysterious thing called life.

Rape victims commonly have PTSD and much of what occurred to cause that trauma has been blocked out so they may fill in because they don’t want to say I don’t know over and over again. That would leave them subject to people questioning their credibility and they have suffered too much already. The name Jackie was not supposed to be included I the story either, Rolling Stone was so excited about writing a “gotcha” story and they totally effed this up.
