Presenting The Right Wing’s Loretta Lynch ‘Whitey Tape’

Over the weekend, President Obama announced his nomination of New York U.S. Attorney New York Loretta Lynch to replace Attorney General Eric Holder as the nation’s top law enforcement official, and even though Lynch has been confirmed by the Senate twice before, Republicans have insisted that her confirmation as attorney general not be taken up until after the new Republican-led Senate takes over in January. This is apparently what the president must do to avoid “poisoning the well” that Republicans began shitting in the night Obama was inaugurated, and not at all like using the lame duck session to confirm some low-wattage rando like the Secretary of Defense.

Waiting for the new Senate would give Republicans a shot at using the Lynch nomination to punish the president if he takes executive action on immigration, but with her qualifications and history of bipartisan support, the general consensus is that she would eventually be confirmed. That hasn’t stopped the right-wing from trying to “Whitey-Tape” Loretta Lynch.

In case you’ve lived in a cave for eight years, a “Whitey Tape” is the right-wing media’s Holy Grail against prominent black political figures, first imagined as a mythical piece of video that would portray then-future-First Lady Michelle Obama angrily referencing “Whitey,” but could also describe any piece of tape that showed Barack Obama being too black, or being around someone who was too black. In 2012, Breitbart tried to “Whitey Tape” Obama by showing him praising, and even hugging, a beloved and venerated black college professor, and Tucker Carlson tried it a few months later by “uncovering” a 2007 speech that he had actually covered at the time.

This weekend, the raw id of the right-wing media began circulating their version of a “Whitey Tape” for Loretta Lynch, whom WorldNetDaily called an “Ivy League Radical” over this bit of video that’s been passed around the Wingnut-O-sphere:…READ MORE

This is going to be ugly for the teabaggers, good for the gop and the Dems.

I wouldn’t be so sure of that… Mitch McConnell was one of the first to call for waiting until January.
So maybe not so good for establishment GOP either.

Good for us, image wise, but kinda sucky for America on the “government working” thing.

When I say that I am thinking the crazy tp will once again over play their hand. 8 million people will NOT be happy if they lose their HC.

        • Kick Frenzy November 10th, 2014 at 18:43

I agree that the TP will overplay their hand.

But I also think the establishment GOP will hold hands with the TP and skip along in blissful ignorance.
They haven’t given a [to plow] about America yet, why start now?

Maybe, the gop are a bit afraid of the TP. They have to spend lot’s of money and time to retain their seats and time tamping down the overt racism from the TP that they only hint at

Maybe not so much, once the Christian-hating wing of the Left finds out she spoke favorably about a Baptist minister….that kind of thing brings out the hate around here….

What the hell are you talking about?

          • Bunya November 11th, 2014 at 14:40

Pay no attention to Burqa. He’s a good guy most of the time, but every year about this time, he feels the need to remind us of our fictitious bigotry and whine about Christian persecution or some such nonsense.

Yeah, I had a head-tilted moment when I saw the comment by him.
But still had to wonder out loud what the hell he was talking about with “Christian-hating wing of the Left” and how … a Baptist brings out the hate… around here?

              Just, kinda needlessly churlish.
              (Not to mention completely wrong.)

But no worries.. I don’t even wear panties, so no twisting is imminent. :D

I agree. I have a feeling this could turn out exceptionally well for the democrats. With republicans running the show, perhaps people will finally discover the disaster that is the GOP.

Little did I realize that the “Whitey Tape” fiction was just the opening act for six years of non-stop lying by the right wing BS machine.

For any of you who missed it, there was supposedly an audio tape of an angry Michelle Obama using the term “whitey”. The story circulated for months on right wing blogs with some of those blogs promising that the actual tape would be posted online any day.

Needless to say, the tape was never posted. It was all a lie.

Just like damn near everything else right wingers claim about the President.

This is all distraction so no one will ask Lynch if she will do what Eric Holder would not: Prosecute financial fraud. (Hint: she won’t)
