Wallace To Christie: ‘Should You Be So Cavalier’ About Minimum Wage?

Posted by | October 26, 2014 13:13 | Filed under: Economy News Behaving Badly Politics Top Stories

In response to Chris Christie saying he’s tired of hearing about the minimum wage, Chris Wallace asked him if the issue warranted him to be so cavalier.

“Not being cavalier at all,” Christie replied. “I’m saying it exactly as I see it. What we need to do in this country is not have debate over a higher minimum wage. We have to have a debate over creating better-paying middle class jobs in the country. If that somehow doesn’t comport with what people in the political elite want, well, I’m sorry…

“There’s just not income inequality in this country,” Christie said. “The bigger problem is opportunity inequality. And that’s what mothers and fathers are sitting around kitchen tables talking about wanting for their children’s future. And that’s exactly what I was saying at the Chamber of Commerce. And I don’t back off from those comments one inch.”

Christie has a fairly simply philosophy regarding the health, safety, and welfare of his constituents:
If he doesn’t have their electoral support … screw ’em.

“We have to have a debate over creating better-paying middle class jobs in the country.”, sorry, Gov. the time for debate is long since over. Your party wants to debate, the Dems want to act. Your party prevents action by wanting to debate. The action your party takes has killed those middle class jobs, your party gives away billions in tax revenue to your buddies and loses those middle class jobs. Meanwhile, those parents who want a better life for their children are working those minimum wage jobs because of your party’s jobs policies.

“We have to have a debate over creating better-paying middle class jobs in the country.”

A debate? Implying that one side doesn’t want to create better-paying middle class jobs? Well, at least Christie admits his party’s position on jobs in America…

Christie’s cavalier attitude continued well throughout the interview until the interviewer tried a bluff, suggesting that the White Castle Burger Franchise would be permanently closing. Thereafter, a more serious tone was established.

Christie is more of a jersey boardwalk guy Except in the winter he might have foodservice trucked to the house

At that point the color suddenly seemed to drain from Christie’s face and a more serious tone was established.

What’s up with the glazed over eyes devoid of any meaning or depth throughout the majority of that piece?
    Seriously… what’s up with that?

He said, she said, we said, you said, they said, that guy said, Lindsay said…
    what’s uuuup… what’s uuuuuup….
oooooo weee… what’s up with that? What’s up with that?!

But really, it looks like his lines are rehearsed and he has no passion for the things he’s saying.
I’m also wondering if the double eye-twitch in his left eye (our right) is a (not so) micro-expression.

So what’s the problem. You can raise the minimum wage and still work toward good paying jobs.
