It has become a sad fact of life that it is never too soon to use tragic events for political reasons, but even within that ghoulish game, there are rules. Sure, you might expect the douchiest of politicians to make political hay at a press conference, or on some cable news segment, but official government statements following a tragic event like yesterday’s attacks on Canada’s Parliament and War Memorial tend to hew closely to the formula that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) used: our thoughts and prayers are with you, we stand with you, we are not afraid, the end.

Or, if you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything. Lots of senators didn’t put out any statement at all, even presidential hopefuls like Rand Paul (R-Ky.). By rights, you really only expect this sort of statement from the highest levels of government, anyway.

    The sun came up at 7:24 est instead of 7:23 est,Its Obams fault he should resign,That African,Socialist,Marxist is working with radical blacks and the Muslim Brotherhood to control the sun,Its the father he barely knew fault.The sun better come up at 7:23 Saturday morning are I’m not going to vote until November 5th ,The Repugs told me on that date there won’t be long lines.

    it must really be difficult for the Republican Cubans to understand that POTUS Obama is not the POTUS of Canada. Especially if you’re a Cuban born in Canada to an alleged (though not documented) US mother.Just goes to show their misunderstanding of the US Constitution and the powers thereof, or a Batista power dream.

    Every time I see this idiot he looks like he needs a drink of water… tongue stuck to the roof of his big mouth lips sticking together… looking stupid, and very nervous… I’m NOT being racist when I say… THAT is one BIG brown nose he has!
