Why Is The New York Times Flacking For Michael Brown Killer Darren Wilson?

One of the big pieces of “news” that dominated this weekend was a New York Times report on Officer Darren Wilson’s account of the Michael Brown killing that was only slightly more fair and credible than right-wing radio host Dana Loesch’s August interview with an anonymous “friend” of Wilson’s. At least Loesh got a first name, “Josie,” out of her source. Citing only “government officials briefed on the federal civil rights investigation into the matter,” the Times published a self-serving and incomplete account by Wilson:

The officer, Darren Wilson, has told the authorities that during the scuffle, Mr. Brown reached for the gun. It was fired twice in the car, according to forensics tests performed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The first bullet struck Mr. Brown in the arm; the second bullet missed.

The forensics tests showed Mr. Brown’s blood on the gun, as well as on the interior door panel and on Officer Wilson’s uniform. Officer Wilson told the authorities that Mr. Brown had punched and scratched him repeatedly, leaving swelling on his face and cuts on his neck.

The report goes on to point out that those sources did not say why Wilson continued to fire at Mike Brown as he fled, and surrendered, but they offer no explanation for that omission. While the source of the story was not “the Ferguson Police Department or from officials whose activities are being investigated as part of the civil rights inquiry,” it seems pretty clear that the leak cones from people with a vested interest in backstopping Wilson’s story. For example:

  • “The officials briefed on the case said the forensic evidence gathered in the car lent credence to Officer Wilson’s version of events.”
  • “The officials said that while the federal investigation was continuing, the evidence so far did not support civil rights charges against Officer Wilson.”

This is an obvious PR leak from a biased source, and seems to be designed…READ MORE

I took the article in the times w/a grain of salt, same as all the other stuff out there, either side. Still wish no GJ and went to a trial instead.

Why haven’t we seen anything real and substantial from ‘the authorities’ about this killing? It’s been what, ten weeks now? And nothing but lazy NYT garbage articles and conjecture. This isn’t rocket science. One cop, one cop car, one gun, one dead kid, several eye witnesses, several gunshots. What the hell is taking so long?!?!?

Call in NCIS and it would have been solved in an hour! Or Criminal Minds.

Even CSI. These shows are why the public wants to see every single piece of evidence and a quickly wrapped case.

I worry about how things will get here if forensics and other evidence does result in a Wilson exoneration.

But justice is on the way, they are eliminating the requirement to inform your prospective employer that you are a felon (ban the box) because we all know that they didn’t do nuffins they are always the victims, LOL.

Y’see this is why no one likes you. Yeah you have people around you who laugh at your little jokes but believe me…they don’t like you or even really know who you are. You seem like the kind of fellow that thinks they are clever but in the face of actual wit you crumble like old wax. You show up at a party and say you banal little jokes and there are a few smiles maybe eve n a guffaw but trust me it’s at your expense. You’re a fool to them, Just ask around you’ll know if they are telling you the truth. You almost got a chuckle out of me with “nuffins” but it was a cursory chuckle at best. If your going to speak to your betters please do us the honor of saying something that matters. Listening to you prattle on bores us to tears. Oh “YT” I see what you did there…you sly boots.

I think I’m going to become your new best friend and for a long long time R L. Oh we have so so much to teach each other.

See you in the funny papers new best friend. :-)
