Baby Dies After Six Hours In Parked Car
It’s happened again. Another baby has died after being left in a car. The six month-old girl was left in a car for six hours in an Intel parking lot in Hillsboro, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. The father called for help at 5 p.m. The mother was performing CPR when the paramedics arrived.
The parents have not yet been identified but it is known that the father works for Intel. A police spokesman said the cause of death has not yet been determined.
When will people learn not to leave their children in parked cars? Perhaps a better question is, will they ever learn?

this is really ridiculous! these people are not forgetting their babies are in these cars. by the time your baby is six months old, you can’t possibly forget your baby is in the car!

It’s a mystery, it really is. I can’t fathom anyone doing such a thing, there is just no conceivable excuse, none at all. And yet we continue to read about people doing it.

Overworked, sleep-deprived people.
It’s awful, and if this happened to me I would kill myself.
I heard of a simple trick to prevent this: when you strap your baby in, put your left shoe by the car seat.

I don’t buy that, a child is supposed to be your first priority, period.

Of course. But I do remember getting very little unbroken sleep in the first two years. In fact, I remember very little of those first two years because of the lack of sleep. Maybe you had a different experience as a parent. Maybe your kids slept the whole night through. I remember the morning that our daughter had a full night’s sleep, it felt like a deliverance.
You may have the best intentions as a parent, and the best priorities, but if your brain is mush due to lack if sleep, awful things can happen.
