7 Extended Family Members Of Nevada Republican Candidate Publicly Endorse His Dem Opponent
Thanksgiving must be fun at Adam Laxalt’s house. The candidate for Attorney General in Nevada has a blistering report to read in the Las Vegas Sun – from seven of his extended family members who have now endorsed his Democratic opponent.
In a collaborated effort, the family members wrote that Democrat Ross Miller is the “most qualified candidate.”
This is going to hurt. Via the Las Vegas Sun:
During our journey, we have found a quote by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. that best captures the essence of a core value that has guided us throughout our lives — the value of speaking up for what is right. He wrote, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
In the spirit of King’s words, then, we can no longer be silent as we seek to maintain the integrity of our home state of Nevada.
Therefore, we collectively speak up to support Ross Miller as the most qualified candidate to be our state’s attorney general.
It is our belief that Ross Miller’s documented history of pulling himself up by his own bootstraps and establishing a well-respected career in law and public service while still maintaining a strong sense of family and community constitute the critical characteristics needed for Nevada’s highest legal office.
We ask that our fellow Nevadans follow our lead by speaking up with their own votes during this election season.
Know that our message does not originate from a Republican, Democratic or even family affiliation. It has to do with the most basic question all voters must ask themselves when they step into the voting booth, “Who really is the best qualified candidate for attorney general for the state of Nevada?”
(my bold)
Ouch.

I love it when opinions and endorsments are used without rancour or personal attacks.

Wow! In the LV Sun posted comments, they’re just now trying to spin that these 7 family members are motivated by political affiliation, instead of their resounding published support for the best AG NV candidate. -DLaxalt 56 minutes ago
We have a diverse family. Democrats and Republicans. To be clear, there’s an equal amount of family members who support Adam. http://lasvegassun.com/news/2014/oct/16/doing-whats-best-nevada/

Laxalt’s own “internal polling” shows 26% definite voters, 10% probably voting for, with 2% leaning for him (totaling (R) 38% Vs (D) 40%) described as within 4.04% margin of error “trailing Democrat Ross Miller by 2 points.”
http://www.rgj.com/story/news/politics/2014/10/11/laxalt-campaign-poll/17120277/ 27% of those polls said they would definitely vote for Miller, 10% said they would probably vote for Miller and 3% said they lean toward Miller=40%. Oct 1, 2014. But that was before his family hit the fan against him.

Adam Laxalt, a candidate for Nevada attorney general, gave himself “glowing” assessments as a private attorney.
But his supervisors said his work was “sloppy,” called him a “train wreck” and suggested a salary freeze and “possible termination,” according to notes from Laxalt’s performance review meeting for 2011-12 with the firm Lewis Roca.

And now, his 7 extended family members publicly endorse his Democrat opponent.
Have a very Happy Thanksgiving, Adam!!
Don’t get mad, and don’t drink and drive.

I come from an all-Conservative family. I was wondering if any of them would do this to me if I was in his shoes. I can only think of one and even that’s not a given. They must really dislike him!

Well, if you were as bad as Adam, then you would have deserved to be rejected by your extended family, but I’m sure you a wonderful person.
I just hope there are no bridges or cliffs near where he lives because he might be really depressed and down by now.

My family was very close and earlier on, politics was an issue at times. After awhile, we left politics out of family-time. My Mom respected our differences and even read a couple of things I wrote and like mothers do, she said she was proud. But my brother and I joke around via email. He’ll call me a libtard and I call him a Conservadouche. You know how mature siblings are!

That is so funny and interesting, but I’m glad your Mom is intelligent and bright enough to respect your opinion, and expect you as who you are.
And yes, sometimes sisters and brothers say strange things to each other.
