Reporter Who Said ‘F*ck It, I Quit’ Tells Me Why She Won’t Apologize
COLMES: Did it occur to you that maybe using that word would not be the best choice at the moment?
GREENE: No, like I said it was off the cuff, in the moment. I didn’t just stop and say, “Oh well, let me have this huge dialogue in my head about what I’m really honestly feeling and thinking right now.” I was just being honest…
COLMES: Where you prepared on Sunday to lose your job?
GREENE: Yeah, I was, 100%.
COLMES: What changed?
GREENE: It was just time. My business was stable enough and I was comfortable just having that as my only source to go on and live by. So on Sunday, I wanted to do it sooner actually, but Sunday was just time and opportunity…
COLMES: Would you have said anything differently if you had to do it over again?
GREENE: I don’t know I might have. No, I don’t think as far as my delivery and all that, I wouldn’t change any of that. It was natural, it was probably one of the honest moments of my life. My adult life I’ve spent working to be a journalist, and you know as a journalist you can’t take a public stance on any issue regardless of how right or wrong you know it is. So that was the first time I could publicly say what I truly felt, so I will not apologize for any of that, absolutely no regrets.

Ms Greene is free to quit her job and pursue whatever endeavor she finds worthy, and I’ll admit that I found this humorous on its face. However, what she really did was risk her peer’s job security and the station’s license. Her off the cuff remarks were irresponsible and have the potential for far-reaching consequences for others.

Not to mention it was ‘all about her’, no consideration or second thoughts about all the kids that were watching now think it’s ok to conduct oneself in that manner… my view

I wonder if the station would be justified in charging her the going rate for what amounted to a five minute commercial for her business venture?

Like there are any kids watching the news. And like most don’t hear worse than that many times a day. And like they don’t have access to cable, which has much worse than that too many times to count.
Spirit of America September 27th, 2014 at 22:08
And there you have it, the condoning of such behavior because of bad behavior from other sources. It was just a matter of time.

Reading his post, yes, really. How else can you ‘interpret’ :
“Like there are any kids watching the news.”…
and
And like most don’t hear worse than that many times a day
That is called justifying behavior, it just is.

It’s not justifying anything, it’s minimizing your bogus claim. You’re trying to claim that kids will be affected somehow by hearing “bad words” on tv. I was pointing out that a) kids don’t watch the news and b) they won’t be corrupted because most of them have heard much worse every day. If you’re going to worry about everything that appears on tv influencing kids, you would either never let them watch it, or never have a tv.

Kids watch the news plenty, look up the demo graphics.
I’m not claiming this one incident is the end all, it’s an accumulation thing.
Or just don’t endorse crude behavior as a general course of things.

I don’t endorse “crude” behavior. AND I sure don’t condone the crude misogynist comment made on Fox News about the Female fighter pilot “does this mean we have boobs on the ground?” I think that does more damage to a kid, than one person dropping the “F” bomb in a rare moment.. The media made and is still making news out of it. Kids learn a lot from adults.. so when someone makes a lousy comment about a brave “female” fighter pilot and makes no apologies for it.. what kind of message does that send to little boys and girls… Women have a tough enough time with men like Rush Limbaugh and all of his crude behavior toward women.. I didn’t condone the “F” bomb… (but I did snicker) at least it wasn’t directed at any particular gender/person

Mrs Akins;
I am a First Class FCC License holder. Although the regen administration put me and thousands of other license holders out of work, simply on their whim to deregulate, believe me when I say, if it were dangerous to say thje words, “Fuck it” on live TV, Fox news would not exist. Rush Limbaugh would never have been a “Shock Jock” to begin with and everything you see and hear on “TV” would not be owned or controlled by 6 major corporations. End of rant, brought to you courtisy of the regen administration and the republican party.

as a journalist you can’t take a public stance on any issue regardless of how right or wrong you know it is.
I think she is right about this. She was finally, able to be truthful. She could have been more gracious. Never know when she might need the Journalism job in the future.

She’s going into the marijuana business. Something tells me pot smokers won’t hold it against her for giving the finger to ‘the man’ when she quit.
