Conservative Media Slant On Obamacare Ignores Its Success

Sylvia Matthews the Secretary of Health and Human Services reported good news this week:

Health and Human Services Secretary Sylvia Matthews Burwell announced that in the 44 states where numbers were available, the number of companies offering plans in 2015 would increase by 25 percent. So, far from fleeing the exchanges, insurers are rushing into them. Competition is increasing.

But what did conservative media outlets report?

Recently, one of the major insurers pulled out of the Minnesota exchange. The news received huge play in the conservative media. The story is real — and it’s bad news for Minnesotans. It’s just not representative of the overall trend towards increased exchange participation. But a lot of conservative readers don’t know that. The Daily Caller, for instance, hit the Minnesota story hard. But on Tuesday, they managed to report on Burwell’s remarks without even mentioning the new data she presented on rising insurer participation.

It’s little wonder that perceptions of Obamacare vary so widely.

Of course the republicans are going to distort the optics on Obamacare. Their whole strategy has been to demonize it and the people that it helps. Their ego and soul is now invested in falsehoods and there is no easy way out for them. After the election they will have another chance to separate themselves from the lies and deceptions that they propagate. For now though they are stuck in this rut. Let’s just hope Americans see that the republicans are bad for America right now and vote them out of office until they can get their act together and quit spreading so many deceptions. Defeat for the republicans is probably the only way that change will come to their party.

I don’t think it is just conservative media, ever since Obama came into office the media has been one big lemming run. Very little original thought goes into much of what is reported, all it takes is for the “talking point” to be put out and right, wrong or pure propaganda the media charges forward.

Our fourth estate no longer exists, it has become a vacant/vacuous lot of debris.

I read today that 25 new health insurance companies will be selling insurance on the Obamacare exchanges in 2015. I posted this info on my Facebook page, but I imagine that many of my former co-workers (who are GOPTPers) will ignore it and believe the meme rw media outfits are pushing–Obamacare is, and has always been a failure, just look at what’s happening in MN!!!! Most of my alleged Facebook friends live in GA, but they’ll suck this far rw slop up faster than a hungry hog, and they’ll conveniently forget that it’s the politicians in GA they support who have adamantly refused to expand Medicaid and have passed a law that prohibits any entity in the state which receives state funding from doing anything to assist the uninsured in getting the health insurance they so desperately need. My alma mater, the University of GA, helped to sign people up last year, but it won’t be able to do it in the near future—such is the level of hatred the GOPTP lawmakers in GA have for this president and their own uninsured citizens.

Since the ACA was passed, the Republicans have not given up on fighting it. Unfortunately, the Democrats have chosen to not defend it and have largely left the field to the GOP.
The Democratic Party should be out there, not only touting the benefits of the ACA, but also reminding people why it was needed in the first place. By abandoning the field to the GOP, the Democrats have allowed the Republicans to shape the debate, mislead the public and change the public perception about the ACA.
The Democrats should be loudly and frequently pointing at Republicans and telling those who are underinsured or who have no health insurance that the Republicans don’t want them to have health care. The Democrats should be forcing the Republicans to defend that point and say why it is not wrong to do that to people in a nation as wealthy as ours.
The Democrats have been dropping the ball and their inattentiveness may very well result in revocation of the ACA, piece by piece.

    LOL, ‘conservatives slant…(fill in blank)”..
of course conservative outlets will slant news to make them look good, just as liberal slant/report news that make them look good.
Case in point, just an example… Rachel Maddow ran weeks of gov christie bridgegate…. weeks, sometimes entire shows, and on msnbc, ALL shows mentioned it, all shows said how ‘bad’ christie was, etc etc…
about 2 weeks ago, the fed investigation announced it found NO evidence christie had anything to do w/it(pending is about aides now)…
not a word on msnbc channel/shows(30 second blurb on abc, nothing on cbs or nbc) w/exception of Morning Joe, in passing.
My problem or even concern isn’t with conservative or liberal outlets/idealog shows slanting, of course they will, it is when supposedly hard-news shows slant outright or by omission do it.

That’s your opinion, but it doesn’t address the topic of the post, the slant.
