The White Male Party

David Wasserman has a great post up about how the Democratic caucus in the House looks like America and the Republican one, well . . .

Today, 89 percent of House Republicans are white men, compared to just 47 percent of House Democrats. For some context, according to 2013 Census estimates just 31 percent of U.S. residents are non-Hispanic white males.

And the numbers will just get more stark after the midterms.

The House Republicans, would like to keep it that way. However, they do not represent the true Americans.

They THINK they do–but they don’t. They are anti-American.

Republicans want to return to the 1950’s, the zenith of white male power on the planet.

No, the 1700’s when only white, male, landowners were eligible to vote! Looks like they have done it in the House.

It could take another 5 Presidential election cycles (20 years) when infants born this morning will be eligible to vote. But the demographic tea leaves are crystal clear. Change is in progress. No amount of gerrymandering will succeed when the people you are trying to gerrymander into a majority do not constitute a majority in any district of this great nation.

We already saw that on a nationwide basis in 2012, more people voted for Democrats in Congress than for Republicans. Thanks to gerrymandering, the GOP still holds the House. Enjoy it while it lasts GOP. The number of people who pine for the America of 1957, is slowly but surely disappearing.
