Kissinger: ‘Without The United States, Chaos Would Break Out’
I asked if our involvement in Iraq after 9/11 was a mistake. Kissinger believes we should have gone in, but our objectives were wrong and it became a mistake: “…there were two separate problems. One was a security problem, in which Iraq had violated a ceasefire agreement they had made with the UN. And the UN had verified six major violations that had occurred. And then the American Senate in 1998 in the Clinton administration, said that the removal of Saddam Hussein was an essential aspect of American policy, it was a non-binding resolution. So to deal with a security problem that was a realistic objective but then to occupy the country and attempt to bring about democracy by American military efforts and at the same time disarm all the instruments of control in Iraq so all of the responsibility fell on us for a number of years, that was probably a mistake.”
I also asked if President Obama is doing the right thing regarding ISIS. His reply: “I think yes, the speech was a good statement of what our objectives should be. He will find it, and all of us will find it, more difficult than it looks, because we can take care of the air aspect of it, of these matters, but it is not yet obvious to me where the ground forces are coming from, which the President has also mentioned as an essential aspect. So we have to be careful of not repeating the pattern of previous wars which were started with great enthusiasm and after a while withdrawal became the only objective.”

{“So we have to be careful of not repeating the pattern of previous wars which were started with great enthusiasm and after a while withdrawal became the only objective.”} — Withdrawal and how we are going to get out should be part of the plan from the beginning. This is essentially a cultural problem in the middle east and something that war is not going to fix. The best, war or military action can do, is contain and stop the spread of heinous activities by a culture that embraces such sickness.
This is not our problem to deal with in its entirety. Contain and stop its spread is all we have to do. The middle east needs to work on evolving their culture.

The Mideast is loaded with so many factions it is mind boggling. Some that get along ok and some that hate each other. America cannot control what they do and this is why we really need to stay out of their affairs. It’s pure fantasy that we can make these countries democracies. We have way more problems on the domestic front that aren’t being addressed than we do in the Middle East. Additionally…this notion of us being the police of the world has got to stop. Kissinger is wrong…

Kissinger: ‘Without The United States, Chaos Would Break Out’, well I’m certainly happy that we have a nice, peaceful world with no wars or genocide going on. Good work, us!

what if the opposite is true? are we aloud to ask that question?

It’s time to try! We can hardly do worse by letting the world get along without our interference than what Kissinger and his ilk have produced.

our ‘non war’ armed forces police actions don’t seem to be working all that well for US. If chaos breaks out, so be it; but the home front needs to be taken care of FIRST.

From Article: “Dr. Henry Kissinger did my radio show last night and said the United States is needed to stop the world from descending into chaos. With his book, World Order,’
Since the world is already descending into chaos, it makes me wonder if Mr. Kissinger is really trying to tell us that we don’t need the United States. Otherwise, since, after looking around, most people are of the mind that the world is already descending into chaos, someone should ask him why and how he could make such a comment after looking around.

So, without the US, things would be pretty much the same? Or, more likely, better?
