Tea Party Leader Jim DeMint Has Public Hallucination About Socialism
“Ex-Im Bank President Fred Hochberg promotes it as ‘socialized capitalism,'” DeMint wrote, referring to the bank’s financial support for U.S. exports. “But America doesn’t get stronger by becoming more socialistic and making businesses dependent on the government.”
The problem is that Hochberg never said anything of the sort. His actual quote was:
We have partly accepted the world we live in. We live in a world where there are state-directed capitalism at many, many countries. China is one, but it’s not the only one. We want to make sure that when American companies are competing … if they [are] competing against China Inc. or Korea Inc. or Russia Inc. and so forth — sometimes those companies are backed by those governments — we want to make sure if, only if our financing is needed to level the playing field, that we step in. We only step in [on] those rare occasions when we needed it too.”
The quote was removed and an editor’s note added by Roll Call.
Corrected, 3:05 p.m. on Aug. 12: A previous version of this op-ed misquoted Fred Hochberg at the July 29 House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Job Creation and Regulatory Affairs.
Anyone else getting flashbacks?

So, DeMint thinks insurance in support of the international sale of goods is socialism? The fringe clowns are incredibly dumb!

Good news for creating creating 205,000 American jobs annually is always bad news for repubs.
“Ex-Im credit insurance” supports $37.4 B in U.S. export sales creating +205,000 American jobs last year by Ex-Im Bank fee profit surpluses via LL author Eric Trommater’s Tea Party In A Pickle Over Ex-Im Bank. http://www.alan.com/2014/07/19/tea-party-in-a-pickle-over-ex-im-bank/

Ex-Im has its own set of problems and socialist tendencies is not one of them! More like insuring deals for large international corporations with enough reserve capital that they likely don’t need it. Government support of multinationals at the expense of smaller businesses is not a great strategy for ensuring a healthy, well balanced economy.

sadly, global economy trumps the heart, soul, and mind of the general population who seem to be there to keep the lords in castles safe. Nothing seems to have changed since, at least the mid-ages, when every hilltop was acastle which was a duchy which in turn was fed by the folks below and defended by the folks below while, except for fleas, the lords sat on their fat asses shouting “global economy”

The only job Heritage created was DeMint’s via his Senate resignation, having a net gain of 0!
Eric Trommater August 13th, 2014 at 23:59
Actually he fired a bunch of people when he got there so it’s a net negative 33.
Obewon August 14th, 2014 at 00:03
Ha ha! I knew we could count on DeMint to scuttle Koch’s Heritage foundation! Fire everything we’ve got!

As an Anarcho-Communist, I am continually frustrated by conservatives who call everything to the left of Citizens United “Socialism/Marxism/Communism.” My first reaction is always “Where?! Gimme!”
It’s like the boy who cried wolf, and I’m a wolf fan who is repeatedly disappointed to see nothing but chihuahuas.
Eric Trommater August 14th, 2014 at 00:23
It is rather an insult to Socialism to call export insurance for free enterprise companies ‘Socialism,’ I agree. Especially it’s from a self financed department that is paid for by fees from the companies themselves and only provides such insurance when there isn’t a free market alternatives.

Just another America hating corporatist, who won’t be content until working Americans are serfs or slaves.

The first opportunity DeMint got to make sh*tloads of money, he took it and ran to the Heritage Foundation. It’s OK for him to make lots of money and to help CEOs make tons of money, but God forbid if the little people prosper the least little bit. He just can’t tolerate that because according to him, that’s socialism.

It seems that the only way republicans can score any points with a majority of Americans now is by lying about everything and anything. They’ve always told a bunch of lies, but now their lies are getting bolder. They’re peddling fake web sites and trying to pass the articles on them off as legitimate, DeMint is lying about what Ex-Im Bank President Fred Hochberg said before a congressional committee, forcing The Hill to pull that part of his op-ed shortly after it’s posted, Brownback is lying about why Kansas’ economy is in the ditch, Walker is lying about why he failed to fulfill his promise to created 250,000 jobs in WI in his first term in office, republicans are lying by saying that it’s democrats who want to see the president impeached, the head of GA’s chapter of Concerned Women for America is lying about the new College Board AP U.S. History test and has brought the RNC on board to push the lie, etc., etc., etc., lies stacked up on top of lies. They have no respect for themselves, or us. I consider being lied to a grave insult to me. The reason they’ve decided to suddenly be so bold with their lies is because Boehner and his buddies have driven Congress’s poll numbers down to a level never witnessed before in the history of the nation, so they’ve decided to try to convince us that the polls showing Congress is disliked by a majority of us are wrong. Pitiful.

You want to watch their heads spin off into the sun? Not only become or admit to being a Socialist (like myself) but go run a successful business using a socialist structure. Then their heads can spin off into the sun. . .

If you look in the dictionary, and lookup “Lying” – Jim DeMint’s photo is there next to the description.

You’re traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead – your next stop, the Twilight Zone

Every time I see a photo of Joseph McCarthy I am STUNNED at the extreme physical resemblance he has to Canada Cruz. Well that and his ugliness inside .. mixed with all that bourbon.
