Kentucky Congressman John Yarmuth tweeted out the above chart showing the gains in insurance in his home state (and that of Senator Mitch McConnell who led the fight against Obamacare).  Harold Pollack explains the significance:

That map reflects hundreds of thousands of lives changed, in a single small state that went against President Obama, big time, in both 2008 and 2012.

    If you were to visit the Bluegrass State, you would find residents who acquired insurance via the AHA think KYNECT, the AHA, and obamacare are different things. They love KYNECT/AHA, but hate obamacare!
    Many actually think the president should have thought of thought of KYNECT on his own. He did, it’s the AHA/obamacare.

    If you tell them all three are the same, they may not believe you. That’s how much ignorance there is in the state. Yet, McConnell wants to take KYNECT away from the by repealing obamacare/AHA. It’s not possible, and he knows it.

      Shhhhh…

      Don’t tell them it’s the same thing.

      It good that they have the coverage, whether or not they know.

      In the most recent Kaiser poll;

      The July poll finds that fewer than four in ten Americans (37 percent) are aware that people who got new health insurance under the ACA had a choice between private health plans, while about a quarter (26 percent) think the newly insured were enrolled in a single government plan and about four in ten (38 percent) say they don’t know enough to answer the question.

      Kaiser does exhaustive polls, (with follow up questions) every month and the most striking results ALWAYS are;
      1) People disapprove of “Obamacare”
      2) People know nothing about “Obamacare”
      3) People don’t want the law repealed.

        Those two statements, that people are against it, and know nothing about it, could apply to virtually any poll of the ignoramuses (ignorami?) that seem to make up the majority of this country.

          That’s why David Frum said, “Republicans have been Fleeced, Exploited And Lied To’ by a Conservative Entertainment Complex”

          And even William Kristol said, on Conservativism becoming a racket;
          “Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and
          eventually degenerates into a racket.”

        It would really help if the Kaiser pollsters would inform instead of just inquire. I don’t see that as a push poll, as they would be providing information.
        I realize many of these folks won’t believe it at least at first, but if it’s told to them repeatedly, some of them will realize why they have coverage and/or better coverage.

      The fruits of years and years of concerted lies by public officials (Republic Party, Sen. McConnell in particular) who should know better and held to account for it!

          I agree.
          Or even if the media felt it WAS their job to fact-check their guests.
