President (Reagan) Criticizes Right Wing Response To Downed Airline

From his diaries:
He also complained about sniping from his right flank.
“Short of going to war, what would they have us do?” he asked in a speech.
“I know that some of our critics have sounded off that somehow we haven’t exacted enough vengeance,” Reagan said. “Well, vengeance isn’t the name of the game in this.”
It wasn’t enough for some conservatives. “The administration is pathetic when it says this proves the President’s words have been right all along,” declared columnist George Will, referring to Reagan’s anti-Soviet rhetoric. “We didn’t elect a dictionary. We elected a president and it’s time for him to act.”
Probably pretty similar to what President Obama is thinking right now.

That awkward moment when you realize your President is basically phoning it in and your only defense is to scour the archives of past presidents to create some sort of justification as opposed to putting together a cogent argument as to how he handled it in a clear, decisive, and Presidential manner.

That awkward moment when critics of the President are shown to lack the guts and integrity to state exactly what else should be done, how many American lives should be put at risk, how many hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars should be spent, exactly what tangible benefits will accrue to the United States, and why we have an obligation that is greater than either the Dutch or the Australians or the Malaysians who lost far more than we did in this recent tragedy.
Jeff Allen July 22nd, 2014 at 11:09
Again, instead of addressing the issue, go off on some unrelated tangent. This is not about what action should be taken, this is about Presidential response to major events. The tides of liberal media support are clearly turning. What they used to call “cool and measured” they now refer to as “disconnected and uninvolved”. The overarching theme of Obama’s presidency of late is one of being semi-retired. The border crisis and the Malaysian jet incident are just two of the recent opportunities that Obama has had to respond in a way befitting a world leader and when you have lost your biggest cheering section (MSNBC of note) then it’s time to begin asking questions. In a rare, impromptu news conference the other day (you know those moments when a President has something important, breaking, or urgent to say) he basically repeated old platitudes that amounted to zero substance. It’s ok to scratch your heads and wonder what’s up, many on the left are already doing so…finally.

You lost any credibility at “Jeff Allen”.

How old are you? 12?

Thus, from a guy who hates the President so much, that he obsessed about his “tone”.
Face it, you’ve hated his tone from Day One. His skintone, that is.
Jeff Allen July 24th, 2014 at 08:51
Tossing out random accusations of racism is lazy and childish. Using my posts and responses on this site, back it up.
jasperjava July 24th, 2014 at 08:56
Just trying to understand your irrational hatred for President Obama. When you start talking about his “tone”, you make it easy.
Jeff Allen July 24th, 2014 at 09:37
I should have clarified by using terms like “apartment”, “angry”, “Chicago”, or any of the other newly minted dog whistles. Again, crying racism for the sake of racism when it is not supported is lazy and childish. It certainly does nothing to further progress in fighting real instances of racism.
ChrisVosburg July 22nd, 2014 at 14:29
Short of going to war, Jeff, what would you have him do?
Jeff Allen July 22nd, 2014 at 17:47
Again, it is not the action but the tone, tenor, and engagement of the response. What had just been established was that any fragmented, rag tag terror group can get a hold of relatively simple weaponry and shoot down commercial airliners. The impact of that act on other budding terror organizations alone requires an immediate and clear response…not a lackadaisical “it looks like it might be a tragedy, now watch this drive (or burger, or photo op that I don’t like)”.
ChrisVosburg July 22nd, 2014 at 18:01
That’s it? You don’t care for his tone? You poor thing, stop sniffling, pull the handkerchief from your sleeve and dry your tears, and give your nose a good blow while you’re at it.
For a guy who does nothing but bitch endlessly about a lack of substance in others’ comments, you’ve got a lot of nerve.
Jeff Allen July 23rd, 2014 at 09:41
Politicians, pundits, media, advisors, etc. are always talking about the importance of “optics”. The optics were flat out poor on this one. If you watch MSNBC at all you’ll find I’m not alone.

You’re the one who is being absurd.
President Obama IS handling this in a clear, decisive, and Presidential manner.
It’s only your bigoted hate that makes you see it otherwise.

You criticise President Obama over things that previous Presidents have done. Your criticisms are almost always without foundation, and seem to spring from some kind of irrational antipathy.
You complain about the President’s “tone”. You should look at your *own* tone, which is one of endless, bitter hatred.
Jeff Allen July 24th, 2014 at 09:40
If criticism equates to hatred then you are engaged in an epic display of irony on this site when you attempt to tag others as hateful.

If we can get him to answer on video ? we can play it over and over again to the rw ding bats.

“Short of going to war, what would they have us do?” he asked in a speech.
Reagan’s comment was correct. And Obama is doing everything he can do now. In fact, he’s imposed much harsher sanctions on Russia than it would appear Europe is willing to do.
The fact is, Obama could find a cure for cancer, bring unemployment down to zero, eliminate the national debt and poverty and the tightie righties would still hate him. Such is the irrational mind.

I kind of wonder if the Netherlands, or Germany is not waiting until they get their dead back and safe before joining the sanctions band wagon. Seeing how the body’s and such was treated, maybe they don’t want to rock the boat just yet. imho
