Jesus Would Weep At Pro-Lifers’ Border Rhetoric

Hypocrisy

While thousands of angry protesters are screaming at politicians to send the refugee children back, there are actually a lot of people who are doing the right thing and working to help these people in need.  The crisis created by violence and extreme poverty in their Central American countries is forcing thousands of children to our border.  Fortunately, our country has some wonderfully kind people who are willing to lend a helpful hand.

One Texas judge, Clay Jenkins (D) spoke in favor of helping the children, while being vilified by Republicans.  Jenkins criticized the border security nuts: “Saying  ‘Let’s make the border more secure’ when you have children stacked on top of each other in drunk tank-like holding cells that are designed to hold six adults, but have 30 children in them… it’s not the answer.”

A Fontana, California church has also pledged their support to house immigrant children in need. Reina Vasquez, 40, of Fontana, said she supports temporarily housing immigrants at the church:

“As the mother of a 4-year-old, my heart goes out to them,” Vasquez said. “If they’re children, we should provide a better life for them.”

The most surprising advocate for helping the children has to be Glenn Beck. He said earlier this week these immigrants deserve compassion and care, not scolding.  He supports showing mercy and kindness and said,

“Through no fault of their own, they are caught in political crossfire,” … “children are in danger of being “scooped up” by nefarious elements like drug cartels who could use them as sex slaves or take advantage of them in any number of ways including recruiting them.”

Congress refuses to even acknowledge the problem by ignoring the president’s request to fund border agencies trying to mitigate overcrowding.  Anything other than compassionate actions would simply make the United States look very anti-life. I hope the pro-life crowd understands the children in need are just as deserving of life as a fetus in the womb.

Why? Because they have no respect for life whatsoever. Many of them will whip out a Bible when it’s convenient , and try to use it as a thinly veiled justification for hate, but the reality is this.

If your reaction to the sight of hungry frightened children is anything other than pity and compassion ,you are not a Christian, and far removed from any standard of humanity.

    Matthew 19:14
But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Just for the record. There are conservative Christian groups in Texas that have put aside politics and are desperately working night and day to help these kids.

Many of those who claim that they are “pro life,” advocate for fetal life. However, once that child takes takes his/her first breath, many of these same pro life crowd say, “No SNAP, no Section 8 Housing, no Medicaid, no help for the mother or the living child.” Some even support the death penalty, and the Iraq War.

This is a sad testimony to the way we are debating things we settled long ago as a nation. It is cruel, inhumane, stupid, and totally against what we want to be as a nation. I don’t know the answers, but I do wonder why some wants to get militarily active in Iraq, Syria, and other Middle East nations, but to leave Central American nations in severe states of chaos that creates the need for people just wanting to find security, and opportunity to have a better life. Maybe we should invest instead in stabilizing these nations and do what is best for our nation. Maybe we should work to find ways to protect these children and their families while we explore ways to return order and peace to their home countries. Oh that’s right, we have a party here that doesn’t even care about doing that in the USA let alone South America.

    • burqa July 11th, 2014 at 20:09

      I agree.
it is no small thing for people to leave their homes where in many cases their family has been established for generations. They leave behind friends, family, social organizations and other ties. They know about robbery, rape and other abuse by coyotes and the bigotry of many Americans is plainly displayed.
Yet they still come because they can have more freedom and opportunity here.
      America acts as a magnet.
If their countries had freedom and opportunity in a similar degree, there would be no incentive to leave.
This is where our foreign policy and foreign aid should be directed. We should be putting forth greater efforts to help those countries.

Actually we are involved in Central America. We’ve overthrown democratically elected presidents and installed dictators and despots that are, or were, friendly to American corporate interests. We’ve bribed and cajoled leaders in all three countries. We are conduction clandestine military anti drug operations there today.
The drug war is part of the reason for the turmoil in each of these countries.

the screaming at the children maybe misdirected. And i think there is a lot of pent up anger over how our government has refused to secure our border from the continued illegal immigration that has gone on for years. which has lead us to the problems that we have with the existing illegals inside this country. Please dont say they are undocumented, because that is just BS. It is more then just violence in these kids home countries that parents have sent them on this journey. Our government whether intentional or not, sent a message that people have construed, that if you get to the US, you will be allowed to stay.

Mexico is as much to blame for this crisis as well. They have clearly allowed their country to be a corridor. I think the message needs to be sent loud and clear. Dont send your children, they will not be allowed to stay. So why put them at risk. And at the same time, the issues of security needs to be addressed with these home countries and what can be done to make it better.

    • M A G July 11th, 2014 at 16:18

The fact that we are picking these people up tells me the border is, in fact, secured. Seems some won’t be happy until we have six 50-foot concrete walls, one after the other.

      • Dwendt44 July 12th, 2014 at 00:49

Jesus said not word one about abortion. The word abortion does NOT appear in the bible even once. He knew that under the Mosaic Law, the soul doesn’t enter the body until it draws it’s first breath. But hey, don’t let facts get in the way of a good lie.

        • John Tartet July 12th, 2014 at 07:12

          • M A G July 12th, 2014 at 08:20

Well, please cite the verses where Jesus talks at all about homosexuality. That’s right, he doesn’t. He’s more concerned with feeding the poor and helping others.

Says you? Who are you to stain your imaginary friends edicts on others? Even if jesus said don’t marry others of the same sex, he isn’t my god, he’s a nobody. Read carefully, I get to do whatever I feel is right in my life consistent with societal laws. I know installing a christian theocracy is a wet dream among some xtians in america, we’re not there, thankfully.

  13. Bob Waas July 11th, 2014 at 18:48

It has nothing to do with the children, it is the lack of the US to protect our borders that has people up in arms. The administration knew this was a problem and they chose to ignore it. It is so unimportant to Obama that he chose to ignore requests to view what is happening on the border.

According to a “help wanted” Request For Information (RFI) posted on FedBizOpps.gov, the feds were looking for vendors to help escort unaccompanied alien children (UAC) in JANUARY of this year.

Our country is being overrun with illegal immigrants and apparently the only Americans who care are those on the right.

    • jasperjava July 11th, 2014 at 18:59

Waas clearly doesn’t know the bible, but repeats the nonsense that some talking head on squawk radio blubbers out.
The verse is talking about the ‘inner sanctum’ of the temple, not the country of Judea.
And since this isn’t the country of Judea, it’s besides the point anyway.

                • William July 12th, 2014 at 11:45

Pretending to be a Christian, and showing anything but compassion for these children is proof enough. I keep reminding myself that Bot-Wass’s avatar is a fat guy who wrote a book on fitness. Ironic, yet oh so relevant.

        • William July 12th, 2014 at 01:54

You’re disgusting. You have some nerve questioning someone else’s faith. Hungry frightened children is the reality. And you? You want to ignore them and claim divine right. You make me sick.

          • Bob Waas July 12th, 2014 at 10:21

Another supposed Catholic heard from. You should have been directing that to Jasperjava, he/she is the one who is questioning my faith; I was just questioning “its” nasty demeanor when responding to my posts.

Who said I want to ignore the children? I said the issue is not about the children, it is about the lack of security at the border. So if that makes you sick, God bless you.

      • John Tartet July 11th, 2014 at 22:01

    • burqa July 11th, 2014 at 19:56

      Bob Waas has the solution.
The way to deal with thousands of children on our border is to pretend they are not there. This frees one up to then go to stock replies supplied by right-wing pundits.

      • John Tarter July 11th, 2014 at 21:59

God did not cause these kids to arrive on our doorstep, but a man named Barack Obama did with his open door policy towards those on the other side of our south..th border. The destruction of our nation continues unabated with this man in office.

            • arc99 July 12th, 2014 at 07:38

specifically what open door policy are you referring to?

as far as I can tell, the internet is full of right wing lies about this President. your post is just the latest entry in a long list.

            • William July 12th, 2014 at 09:18

“God did not cause these kids to arrive on our doorstep”

You are not only a sad excuse for a human, you degrade the spirit of Christianity. You hide behind the Bible when and if you feel it supports some hate filled agenda you share with your right wing masters, but when Christian charity is involved you ignore every single principle Christians hold dear. I sit and wonder what sort of sick twisted individual would use the suffering of children as ammunition to fuel his hate for a President. God didn’t put borders up on this earth, man did. No pity, no compassion just a (as usual) another” I hate the president tirade” from you. People of good faith and spirit will feed and shelter these children until solutions can be found. Small little hate filled bigots like you will simply use their suffering as another excuse to hate.

Clearly you have never read the Bible.

              Hebrews 13:2
helpful votes Do not neglect to show
hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

Romans 15:7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has
welcomed you, for the glory of God.

              Matthew 25:35 For I
was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a
              stranger and you welcomed me,

              Peter 4:9 Show
hospitality to one another without grumbling.

Exodus 23:9 “You shall not oppress a sojourner. You know
the heart of a sojourner, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt.

              Deuteronomy 10:18 He
executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner,
              giving him food and clothing.

              Exodus 22:21 “You
shall not wrong a sojourner or oppress him, for you were sojourners in the land
              of Egypt.

Excuse me, the DACA law was passed in 2008 by the Bush Administration. It has been widely reported. So either you want Obama to follow the law or “once again” he’s “not following the law”.

    • William July 12th, 2014 at 01:49

      Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.

      • Bob Waas July 12th, 2014 at 10:36

Nice little chart, it must have taken you quite awhile to create it. You grasp at anything to try and make this president look like he is doing something positive. “Figures don’t lie, but liars do figure.” Here is the truth behind the numbers. Btw, why didn’t he deport those illegal immigrants who he released from jail?

“To support the claim of “record” deportations in 2012, the Obama administration and its supporters cite the 409,000 deportations attributed to ICE that year. This is the highest number of removals credited to ICE in a single year; however, the number is higher because it includes the largest number of Border Patrol cases that ever have been transferred to ICE for processing in a single year (see Table 3). It does not reflect an increase in enforcement activity. In past years, these cases would have been handled by the Border Patrol, and counted in total deportations, but not as removals. Removals are at best half the number of total deportations, and do not represent the entire scope of enforcement actions taken by DHS enforcement agencies.”

The President himself confirmed this statistical manipulation in 2011, speaking at a roundtable for Hispanic reporters:

“The statistics are actually a little deceptive because what we’ve been doing is, with the stronger border enforcement, we’ve been apprehending folks at the borders and sending them back. That is counted as a deportation, even though they may have only been held for a day or 48 hours, sent back — that’s counted as a deportation.” he said.

. Btw, why didn’t he deport those illegal immigrants who he released from jail?
          It’s the Constitution stupid.
          People are released pending hearings.
Get back to me when you have something OTHER than a right wing blog to reinforce your big steaming plate of BS.
BTW, I applaud the limited ICE resources being used to focus on the criminal elements rather than some person just looking for a better life.

Disgusting bigot. Incredible that a nasty hateful piece of slime like you can call yourself a “Christian”. Jesus would be ashamed of you.

      • Bob Waas July 11th, 2014 at 19:33

You are incredible! You claim to be a practicing Catholic and yet, you make some of the most hateful unfounded personal attacks.

        Matthew 7:1-2

        • jasperjava July 11th, 2014 at 19:40

You claim that the U.S. Is being “overrun” by “illegal” immigrants.

Show me the Bible verse where Jesus considered anybody to be “illegal”.

          You’re nothing but Nazi scum.

          • Bob Waas July 12th, 2014 at 10:28

Tell me, are you related to Obama? You and he seem to both revert to 8th grade level debating class where the subject is ignored and you just resort to name calling. Very immature.

Here is your verse Ezekiel 44:9

            • William July 12th, 2014 at 10:50

and here is YOUR verse. Romans 12:13

              • Dwendt44 July 12th, 2014 at 11:36

So how many have you taken into your home and how much money have you given to the charitable organizations who are helping these children?

        • jasperjava July 12th, 2014 at 00:05

Coming from someone who would gladly send them back to the killing fields, that’s pretty rich.

          • John Tartet July 12th, 2014 at 07:15

Killing fields? You mean like Baltimore and Chicago?

          • John Tarter July 12th, 2014 at 07:20

You want them here yet you refuse to help them either personally or by giving your own money . You are a typical liberal hypocrite.

            • jasperjava July 12th, 2014 at 08:41

Hypocrite? You fake some concern about “helping” them, when you would rather see them dead.

Lord, I’m glad I’m not a right-winger. So much hate. How do they even live with themselves? How do they sleep at night?

            • Judgeforyourself37 July 13th, 2014 at 20:44

He didn’t say that he didn’t give money to charity.

      • Dwendt44 July 12th, 2014 at 00:46

It’s been a very long, long time since christians had anything to do with Jesus. It’s just a name they toss around without knowing or caring what it implies.

    • mea_mark July 11th, 2014 at 19:55

“… the only Americans who care are those on the right.” — You are lying, no if ands or buts about it. The devil you imagine, is you.

Why is it OUR responsibility to care for these kids? Where are their parents? Their other relatives? Their home governments? I’m tired of being the daddy to other people`s children.

        • jasperjava July 12th, 2014 at 00:02

God forbid that you would be daddy to ANY children. That would be child abuse.

        • William July 12th, 2014 at 01:48

Why is it OUR responsibility to care for these kids?

Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 19:14

Stop calling yourself a Christian, it’s embarrassing.

          • John Tartet July 12th, 2014 at 07:08

Romans 15:7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has
welcomed you, for the glory of God.

              Matthew 25:35 For I
was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a
              stranger and you welcomed me,

Excuse me, the DACA law was passed in 2008 by the Bush Administration. It has been widely reported. So either you want Obama to follow the law or “once again” he’s “not following the law”.

This is a tough one.
It seems some of my liberal comrades have forgotten the arguments they made when little Elian Gonzales was in the news.
Those kids belong in the custody of their parents. They need to be returned to their parents. If this is impossible or the parents accede to them running away to America, then we should help those kids by scattering them around the country to communities that can handle small numbers of them. Fortunately, it is common for American municipalities to have many Christian charity groups who will be happy to take these children in.

    • The Lochnar July 11th, 2014 at 22:49

“Fortunately, it is common for American municipalities to have many Christian charity groups who will be happy to take these children in.”

Of course they would … more to indoctrination into their fictitious beliefs and fill church coffers with tithes and offerings.

      • Bob Waas July 12th, 2014 at 10:46

Then you can take them in and indoctrinate them with your beliefs and moral codel one that allows any behavior as long as it feels good. And, you can teach them the belief that we all evolved from monkeys, yet monkeys are being born every day. Which begs the question, why don’t they just cut out that process and have them be born human to start with. Oh, that’s right, if they would be born human then their chances of survival are much slimmer because you abort children, but you don’t abort monkeys.

You’re in the minority with that kind of thinking.

        • Dwendt44 July 12th, 2014 at 11:30

Are you really that ignorant? No one, at least no one with a smidgen of scientific knowledge, suggests we evolved from monkeys. We did, and the facts show, that we evolved from a common ancestor. And I know of no moral code that allows any and all conduct regardless.

          • Bob Waas July 12th, 2014 at 11:49

Ignorant, no, just repeating back the brainwashing I received in public school. Who is the common ancestor you’re referring to and how was it created?

Moral codes that aren’t documented are none at all. When I asked those who say the 10 Commandments are phony I ask for a list of the moral codes they follow; so far no one has produced any.

As far as moral codes go, there are plenty of those around two. Just because you haven’t looked doesn’t mean they are there.

Okay, if that’s what you want to believe. I don’t believe in evolution because it’s not real, so how can you look up something that doesn’t exist.

How come some on this site don’t follow the golden rule then?

            2. Arab refugees began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
