President Asks For Money To Fix Border; Congress Too Obsessed With Benghazi
The President is in Texas today meeting privately with Governor Rick Perry, because a public display of respect toward the Commander in Chief (a handshake) is unacceptable to the rampantly racist Tea Party. The reason for the visit is to address and solve the problem of tens of thousands of undocumented immigrants, many being unaccompanied minors. Naturally, the right wing can’t seem to blame President Obama fast enough as he requests the needed funds from Congress. Texas Senator John Cornyn (R) said,
“This is not a humane situation, the president knows what to do and Secretary (Jeh) Johnson knows what to do, but apparently the president has decided to make a political decision rather than a policy decision that would solve the problem,” Cornyn said. “It’s going to continue to get worse before it gets better unless the president steps up.”
The crisis is due in part to a Bush-era law
…(designed) to address human trafficking (that) prevents the government from returning the children to their home countries without taking them into custody and eventually through a deportation hearing.
Stonewalling President Obama has been an obsession with the Republicans in Congress. Immigration reform sits in purgatory between the Senate and the House, it’s never even been put up for a vote on the House floor. How else do these Republicans expect the president to help with the overcrowded border? Should he join the Bundy Bunch militia and take up arms against defenseless children? What’s needed on the border is adequate funding for housing, food, water and legal assistance for these refugees.
Much like the strained Department of Homeland Security, the VA crisis has been ill-funded, while the number of veterans seeking care has doubled since 2001. Yet, Congress keeps slashing the budget. In order to properly staff the VA, Congress needs to allocate money to help these war-weary heroes. Instead, they believe finding culpable person(s) regarding the Benghazi incident is worth millions of dollars. In fact,
House Republicans will allocate nearly $3.3 million for their committee investigation of the 2012 Benghazi attacks for the rest of the year—that’s more than the Veteran’s Affairs committee had for all of 2014.
When corporate profits are at record highs, Republicans fight to keep their 1% voters in their pockets by keeping taxes low. Revenue from taxes could do things like help our wounded warriors and keep the border safer, but they’d rather turn a deaf ear on actual issues and keep Congressman Trey Goudy (R-SC) busy with an almost two year-old Benghazi witch hunt. By doing anything they can to tarnish the Obama Administration, millions will suffer while Tea Party representatives irresponsibly waste the taxpayers’ money.

yes, we will spare you the BS. we don’t have any BS to share since you clearly have the entire supply.

Try reading the LAWS that Bush signed into place , 3 times he signed bills about immigrant children without their parents here , why do you think the parents are sending them alone , because of Bush’s laws .

You must be one of the idiots who thought OAS could march into DC and take over the government. Conspiracy theorists are not your friend but they sure set you up to look foolish.

What’s cheaper? To send them back or to clothe, feed & house them? while vets die & starve. How long til he needs a few more billion. No. This is his katrina. He created this crisis let him sink or swim. No funds. He’s just trying to steal another election.

Toby dear, if you’d bothered to actually read the article (that’s assuming you can handle the big words) you’d have learned that we HAVE to clothe, feed and house them due to a law Bush 43 signed. So, no, this isn’t Obama’s Katrina, but if you’re insistent on using that analogy, we can call it Bush’s Katrina, the sequel. (I can’t help but wonder what election you think he’s trying to steal considering he can’t run again.)

Bob Waas July 10th, 2014 at 00:14
Still blaming Bush? When will Obama be responsible for anything?
“This was a ‘renewal’ of a law that was signed by Bill Clinton, the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000. Which was to provide protections for persons in the country illegally who may be victims of human trafficking.”
“It is funny that they neglect to mention that this bill was sponsored and championed by then Senator Joe Biden. In fact, this is one of the feathers in Joe’s cap.”
It had been renewed several times before. Joe Biden

I subjected myself to Dollard’s vile diatribes to understand the point being made. I am still hosing the stench of hatred off me.
The bill in question is the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008
You have time and time again deflected responsibility for the war in Iraq away from President Bush by citing all the Democrats who voted to go to war.
This bill according to the information I find was passed UNANIMOUSLY. There is no record of any GOP opposition at all.
So I can’t wait for you to explain how it is that a bill that received unanimous support of the GOP is entirely the fault of President Obama when things go wrong, but when a minority of Democrats support going to war in Iraq, President Bush bears no responsibility at all.

On December 23, President Bush signed into law a bill that enhances measures to combat human trafficking. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff and Immigration and Customs Enforcement Acting Assistant Secretary John Torres were among 16 federal agency and private organizational leaders in the Oval Office who witnessed the signing of H.R. 7311, the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008. Elyse Smith, daughter of Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), also attended the signing event. The bill, which was passed by voice vote in the House and unanimous consent in the Senate on December 10, authorizes appropriations for FY 2008 through 2011 for the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000.

No, not blaming,mea_mark was blaming, i was just pointing out how the law has been renewed by each president beginning with Clinton. The language may have been changed with each succeeding renewal. The original intent was to protect children who were victims of human traffickers.

Of course congress won’t give Obama funds for our vets or these kids. If these issues were taken care of, Obama would get the credit. Besides, they need that money for their eleventy-seventh BENGHAZI! investigation.

I believe you are misinformed. The illegal criminals you are referring to had already served their time in jail for the crimes they committed and were released pending their deportation hearings. There is no conspiracy here, just the normal workings of our legal system.

La Raza, i.e. most of the people in the Western Hemisphere, is going to go on a killing spree because we are taking care of their kids, got it. They will come after us with mariachi bands, and serenade us to death, and they will call in the Elts to help them. It won’t be pretty.

Obama’s solution for every problem is to throw more money at it. He spent 7 trillion dollars and his success rate is sub-par.
