Starbucks To Pay Tuition For Thousands Of Its Workers

Starbucks will pay for thousands of its workers to get their Bachelor’s degrees from Arizona State University.

The Starbucks College Achievement plan will let full- and part-time workers choose from 40 undergraduate degree programs at ASU that will be delivered online. 135,000 employees are eligible.

“There’s no doubt the inequality within the country has created a situation where many many Americans are being left behind,” CEO Howard Schultz says in a video produced to announce the program. “The question I think for all of us is, Should we accept that, or should we try to do something about it?

    I must say however that their coffee is too bitter and I much prefer Dunkin’ Donuts

    I guess they got tired of baristas who couldn’t make change and decided that they need a collage degree to operate a cash register and differentiate between tall grande and venti.

    Oh and Starbucks is thinking of changing its name to Tenbucks. Because that’s what they will have to charge to pay tuition and a $15/hr minimum wage.

    I’d rather pay $15/hr for them to paint my house than to make my coffee.
