Two Dead In School Shooting In Oregon
This story is developing as I write this, so if details are sketchy I apologize.
There are reports of an active shooter at Reynolds High School in Troutdale, Oregon. It’s the second largest high school in the state, in the eastern suburbs of Portland. The shooting was first reported on Twitter and is now being covered by the networks. The first reports were around 11 am ET. We’re a bit more than an hour into the situation as I write.
A number of gunshots were heard. One parent on Twitter heard from his or her child via text message that six shots were heard. There are unconfirmed reports on injuries. A “Flight for Life” helicopter has landed but hasn’t loaded any patients.
No word on how many shooters, what sort of weapons, or any definitive word on injuries. MSNBC is reporting the shooter is dead. That is now being confirmed by multiple news sources. Also, word that any injuries suffered by victims are not life-threatening.
Commentators are already asking, “How many more stories like this will we have to report?”
Right now, CNN is showing students leaving the school, parroting reports that the situation is secure, and no one was killed. CNN is also reporting that a semi-automatic weapon was used, according to police. CNN is now contradicting their own report, saying the school is still on lockdown. Students are filing out slowly with their hands on their heads. This was the second to last day of school.
How much more of this are we going to stand for before we, the people of the United States of America, can tell our elected representatives to stand up to the Gun Lobby and make it safe for our children to go to school, for people to shop at Wal-Mart, for police to stop for a bite of lunch without being killed, without the sort of lunatics like Alex Jones who say this is all being set up by President Obama to take away our guns?
How much longer, America, until we tell Congress — NOT ONE MORE?
This takes on a personal flavor for me. My late older sister’s son, Tommy, is a teacher in that school. My younger sister tells me he’s OK.
How do we stop this? Short of a mass collection of firearms and an outlawing of guns which would almost certainly lead to blood on the streets of America, how do we stop this?

I wish they’d stop killing themselves. Instant martyrdom. I want them tried and punished. In fact, don’t we have a special prison for terrorists? Somewhere that they will never be heard from or seen again. If they hang themselves in their cells or trip in the shower, I’d be OK with that.

I do like your writing so your glowing bio is at least partly accurate. How would remove guns from the bad guys, even if all the good guys turned theirs over (to the government/oligarchy)?

The government and the oligarchy are not one and the same. The oligarchy may be trying to control the government but they are still separate. You should probably rephrase your question so it makes more sense.
