Your Bullying Got Into My Discrimination

Following the passage of The Mississippi Religious Freedom Restoration Act (the “We Don’t Serve Your Kind Here” law), businesses in Mississippi who do not discriminate against gay people have started putting stickers in their windows announcing this fact. It seems like good business to let your customers know that their money is welcome.  And this seems to have the local fundamentalists up in arms:

Buddy Smith, executive vice president of Tupelo-based American Family Association offers his take on the sticker campaign.

“It’s not really a buying campaign, but it’s a bully campaign,” he says, “and it’s being carried out by radical homosexual activists who intend to trample the freedom of Christians to live according to the dictates of scripture.

“They don’t want to hear that homosexuality is sinful behavior – and they wish to silence Christians and the church who dare to believe this truth.”

It might come as a surprise to some of these business owners that they are radical homosexual activists, but such is modern life.

Pity the poor Christians, they certainly pity themselves.
