Polk Award To Journos Who Broke Snowden Story In Guardian, WaPo

The conservative side of the aisle have generally been dismissive about the Polk Award as a “liberal” honor, but this year’s honor will divide libertarians from national security fetishists: it is being awarded to Ewen MacAskill, Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras (the three pictured to the right), and Barton Gellman, who exposed details of mass surveillance by the NSA via documents leaked by whistleblower Edward Snowden:

The three journalists who broke the National Security Agency revelations from Edward Snowden in the Guardian are among the recipients of the prestigious 2013 George Polk Awards in Journalism.

Glenn Greenwald, Ewen MacAskill and Laura Poitras will receive the award for national security reporting, along with Barton Gellman of the Washington Post.
