There’s been arrests in the probe to find the dealer who sold Philip Seymour Hoffman the heroin one which he overdosed (arguably the most hated person or persons in New York City):

Cops Tuesday night busted four people in a Mott St. apartment who they believe might have been suppliers of the heroin that killed Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Police received a tip that the heroin that killed the celebrated actor came from the Chinatown building, sources said Tuesday night. They raided the apartment about 7 p.m. and took the four dealers into custody.

Hoffman was found dead Sunday in his T-shirt and shorts with a needle in his left arm and 70 baggies of heroin in his $10,000 a month apartment on Bethune St.

There had been more than a liitle speculation that Philip Seymour Hoffman may have overdosed on a deadly heroin laced with a powerful surgical anesthetic that has plagued the Northeast regio of the US. The lab results are back:

Heroin recovered at Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman’s apartment after he was found dead has tested negative for the powerful additive fentanyl, a police official said on Tuesday.

Samples taken from Hoffman’s Manhattan apartment did not contain the potent synthetic morphine, which is added to intensify the high and has been linked to suspected overdose deaths, said the official, who was not authorised to talk about the evidence and insisted on anonymity.

The Capote star made six ATM transactions for a total of $1,200 inside a supermarket near his home the day before his death, law enforcement officials said. The 46-year-old actor was found dead in the bathroom of his apartment Sunday.
