Border Patrol Stops Man Sneaking Thai Woman Across In A Suitcase

Important travel safety tip: when traveling abroad, it is not a good idea to pack a previously deported companion for the return trip:

A Phoenix man is in hot water after authorities found a woman stuffed in his suitcase at the Port of Nogales.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said on Monday, December 30, officers stopped the 56-year-old man to inspect his Honda SUV.

Customs and Border Patrol spokeswoman Edith Serrano said when officers opened a suitcase in the back of the vehicle, they found a 48-year-old Thai national hidden underneath a pile of clothes.

Serrano said the man was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement who is now handling the case.

Officials said the woman is facing reentry after deportation charges.
