Spies are withholding intelligence from Trump

They do not trust him. There had been reports about this over the last couple of days, but not as thorough as the story that dropped this evening at WSJ.com.

U.S. intelligence officials have withheld sensitive intelligence from President Donald Trump because they are concerned it could be leaked or compromised, according to current and former officials familiar with the matter.

The officials’ decision to keep information from Mr. Trump underscores the deep mistrust that has developed between the intelligence community and the president over his team’s contacts with the Russian government, as well as the enmity he has shown toward U.S. spy agencies. On Wednesday, Mr. Trump accused the agencies of leaking information to undermine him.

In some of these cases of withheld information, officials have decided not to show Mr. Trump the sources and methods that the intelligence agencies use to collect information, the current and former officials said. Those sources and methods could include, for instance, the means that an agency uses to spy on a foreign government.

A White House official said: “There is nothing that leads us to believe that this is an accurate account of what is actually happening.”

But then, they wouldn’t be able to tell you that with 100% assurance because they don’t have the intel to back it.

Ironic, huh?

    Mediaite is reporting this too and giving credit to WSJ.But this isn’t their story and shouldn’t get credit for it.. I read it on a UK site called The Independent a few days ago, and the original story came from The NY Observer (yes.. THAT Observer).

      1. The Observer article you are quoting is an Opinion Article.
      2. While it does mention that the spies are withholding evidence from the white house, there is a clear distinction between someone giving their opinion that “people aren’t starting to trust the Whitehouse” and actual white house intel reporting to a more mainstream news agency that the spies do not actually trust the president. In the second instance, there are people who’s credibility are on the line for what they say. To make an analogy, tons of people are written about how the trump organization has been communicating with russian before the election, but only now has the story been broke because people are laying their reputations on the line now. That doesn’t mean we should be giving credit to the thousands of people who, without any proof, claimed that the trump organization communicated to russia before the election without any proof.

      also i think the reason that mediate quoted the wsj is because they pulled actual quotes from their article as well as the fact that they are choosing a site with more of a reputation as a back up to their own report.

      The story is written by John Schindlar … he operates a fairly popular blog for ex-western spies and intelligence analysts. If you breeze thru the archives you’ll see they have a record of being consistently ahead of the curve. Hence why so much credence is given to a thinly sourced article.

    Someone should be recording every word spoken by Trump and his pack of rapid dogs so we can estimate just how much damage has been done to US national security when the Comedy Presidency comes to an end.
