Trump ‘believes he was elected as a dictator’

Posted by | January 31, 2017 17:44 | Filed under: Politics

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) took the gloves off during a Tuesday appearance on FOX Business Channel:

cited a tweet the president posted earlier Tuesday blasting Democrats for delaying confirmations for his Cabinet nominees.

“The president’s tweet this morning was very interesting and telling because it shows that he believes he was elected as a dictator,” the former Democratic National Committee chair said.

“There is an advise and consent role in the United States Senate, and that is what they are doing. He doesn’t just get to have his nominations rubber stamped, and he has nominated some very disturbing individuals.”

The tweets came after Trump on Monday night fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who was appointed by former President Barack Obama.

I don’t give a sh*t what she says – time the Dems cleaned house and got rid of the Blue Dogs and the cheaters who ran the DNC.

  2. Kick Frenzy January 31st, 2017 at 18:35

That’s rich… Wasserman-Schultz chastising someone else for trying to force their choices upon other people.

It’s not that she doesn’t have a point, it’s that it loses all it’s meaning coming from… her.

    • crc3 January 31st, 2017 at 19:14

Yep…I lost all respect for her when she threw Bernie under the bus in favor of Clinton….

      • AnthonyLook January 31st, 2017 at 19:51

A lot of us people lost respect for Bernie supporters for their uber Nadderism and parroting the same tea party Fake News that Russia planted for Republicans.
We’re getting over it. Sander supporters need to work with the likes of Schultz. There are more pressing issues.

        • Kick Frenzy January 31st, 2017 at 20:21

I’m not sure what you’re referring to here, so I’m just gonna ask… exactly what are you talking about?

          • AnthonyLook January 31st, 2017 at 20:38

That the Sanders supporters mimicked the same vitriol/talking points as the tea party birther Republicans, the same Fake News via Wiki, Assange and Russia. Thanks for asking.

            • Kick Frenzy January 31st, 2017 at 21:17

              You’re welcome. :)
But, I got what you were referring to in general, but I was asking for a more specific example.
Like, what exact stories are fake news that they’re using as talking points?

(I’m not trying to task you with every instance, just an example or two is all.)

1 – It’s not the comments about supporters that’s the big issue there, it’s the idea of presenting centrist/Dem Lite goals as big progressive ideas. (Which wasn’t a fake email, it was an audio recording.)

2 – I never thought the whole “bucket of losers” thing was all that big in the overall picture. Nor have I seen it used… almost ever… as part of a Bernie supporter talking point.

3 – All of those stories are obviously fakes. At least for most people. There’s always some people, in any group, that will believe stupid crap. But overall, yeah no… these are like National Inquirer headlines.

4 – I agree that people need to learn to go beyond their Facebook feed for news. I think it’s a problem when people don’t research information for themselves instead of sourcing stories… especially outrageous ones.

So, yeah… there are some Bernie supporters who act like you say.
But I’d argue that most are much more rational.

                  • AnthonyLook February 2nd, 2017 at 00:10

No we were there, we saw, heard and read the plethora of caustic vitriol and the demonizing of the Democratic Party, our President, our leaders and our past. There was no “some”. That Sander supporters wish want to ignore that your Nadar moment and not hone up to you and the Republicans dual attack at our Party is of no matter to us. We need to work together. I could care less about campaign tactics at a time like this.

                    • Kick Frenzy February 2nd, 2017 at 00:13

I never cared for most campaign tactics.
And I have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’m a Berniecrat and I never did anything like what you’re talking about.

                    • AnthonyLook February 2nd, 2017 at 00:16

Yes you do, — we need to come together— you’re still doing it.

“That’s rich… Wasserman-Schultz chastising someone else for trying to force their choices upon other people.

It’s not that she doesn’t have a point, it’s that it loses all it’s meaning coming from… her.”

                    • Kick Frenzy February 2nd, 2017 at 00:28

That’s not whining about fake news.

It’s legitimate indignation at someone being able to screw around as badly as she has and still get defended, championed and re-elected.
I don’t pretend like rule breakers and centrists are honorable progressive representatives.

                    • AnthonyLook February 2nd, 2017 at 00:34

No one is asking you to pretend. You asked, I told you how I and others feel about Sander supporters; we aren’t looking back and bashing. The Democratic Party has no problem with Schultz and never did with any of her actions. She is as welcomed now as always. That was politics and campaigning; just like your side did.
                      We’re moving on.

                    • Kick Frenzy February 2nd, 2017 at 00:48

You may be moving on, but many of us are hoping to change the make-up of the Democratic leadership.
Not all of it, but some.

That’s not going to be accomplished by ignoring reality and just… moving on.

                    • AnthonyLook February 2nd, 2017 at 01:16

We’re fully capable of accepting reality. Where we agree there will be middle ground. Where we don’t, there won’t. You push your agenda, we will push ours. The majority will decide. That’s politics. Aside from that, we have a fascist racist as president; the last thing I concern about is what difference we have.

                  Well done.

We have already lost respect as a country. From the clown car Republican campaign to a nut house WH. Germany and/or England are the leaders of the Free World. Trump has forfeited that respect. AMERICA has already lost its stature to lead.

    • granpa.usthai February 1st, 2017 at 10:55

      agreed.

with the Great Britain Commonwealth and EEC the torch of Lady Liberty remains a guiding light for those who yearn to be free.

unfortunately, Lady Liberty can’t pee as she’s only an iron statue.

little 70 years old donnie can’t understand this and threw one of his famous CRYBABY tantrums and has ordered the light to be turned out.

Donnie can’t even pronounce his SCOTUS Nominees name! 3rd try he got it! Neil Gorsuch, a 49 year old Oxford UK graduate degree judge, served on the federal appeals court based in Denver.

  5. Snick1946 January 31st, 2017 at 21:12

Agree with her comment but coming from her it’s sort of ironic.

DWS could have just done what she was supposed to do- practice absolute neutrality in the nominating process. Her inability to control what she said may well have led us to where we are now.

I always thought she was an overrated personality. .

    • Mensa Member January 31st, 2017 at 21:28

I don’t agree with what Wasserman-Schultz did but I think the charge against her is overblown.

Clinton has been a loyal Democrat her whole adult life. Sanders only recently joined the party. Is there any rule that the head of the DNC can’t favor a rock solid party member over a johnny-come-lately who has been a loud and long critic of the party he now wants to lead?

      • The Original Just Me January 31st, 2017 at 21:39

Small correction, Sanders never officially changed to the Democratic Party. He did run for nomination but never changed Parties. Even today, He is a registered and Declared Independent .

        • Mensa Member January 31st, 2017 at 23:18

Really? I guess I just assumed that he had to become a Democrat to be nominated.

That just furthers my point. Is it strange that the head of the DNC would favor the only Democrat running for the Democratic nomination?

          • The Original Just Me February 2nd, 2017 at 01:42

Anybody can run for a nomination. But you Should turn Democrat if you win the nomination. Sanders has run twice for Senate nomination on the Democrat ticket, lost in the Primaries, and then ran as an Independent and won the main election.

        • burqa February 2nd, 2017 at 01:02

Hmmmmmm. Seems to me when they announced Schumer as Senate leader, they named a new chief of the DNC and Sanders was given a job running an effort to recruit voters to the party.
I do not care for that whole business of not being a Democrat.
It makes that “independent” claim look more like a pose.
Time to give this silly ‘is-he-or-sn’t-he’ contretemps a rest.

I love having him in the party. Bernie Sanders – good guy.

          • The Original Just Me February 2nd, 2017 at 01:38

Sanders IS what a Democrat Used to be. Back in the day when I was a Democrat. I am now an Angry Independent.

      • Bunya February 1st, 2017 at 13:43

Yes, but HRC has, in the past, catered to republican demands. I am vehemently against any type of war. I’m certain there is always some sort of compromise, but Hillary, in an effort to look “tough on terror” voted in favor of invading Iraq. Now, I know you’re going to say that she was “lied into it”. I disagree. Hundreds, if not millions of people (including me) were lied to regarding the yellowcake garbage, but stood firm against the invasion. She just went with the more popular choice, and it wasn’t the choice of the people – and I believe her vote cost her the election.

      • Kick Frenzy February 2nd, 2017 at 00:10

        Actually, yes.
There are rules that say the entire DNC operation must stay impartial until a nominee is selected.

There are numerous cases where those rules were blatantly violated.

        what?

your chart is showing Russia passing the US on the chart during the Reagan years?

        is that even possible?

does this include the ‘secret ones’ the US has shipped out of country?

like the ones it’s been rumored to have been given to Iran for hostages during Reagan’s first term?

      • burqa February 2nd, 2017 at 00:54

There’s a report i’d like to track down. MastermindObewon, if you come across it, save me a link. It was a report prepared by either the Defense Dept. and/or the National Security Council. They concluded that we really didn’t need more than 800 or so nuclear warheads.

I am not familiar with the bill you refer to, but at first glance would question its constitutionality.
The president is the commander in chief of the military and being in command means having the legal authority to command that military to do anything the president wants. This includes the authority to issue them orders to attack an enemy before it attacks you, if the commander in chief wants to ala Israel, june 5, 1967.
A commander in chief has to be able to issue commands to defend the country or preempt an attack when there is no time for consultation.

    • granpa.usthai February 1st, 2017 at 10:43

      no, he was not ELECTED.

Clinton was ELECTED by 3,000,000 + more popular votes.

trump, like 4 previous republicans was SELECTED.

republicans have yet again overruled the will of the people with their continuing experiments of how to create a fascist state, reinstate slavery, etc.

  7. burqa February 2nd, 2017 at 00:38

“Believes he was elected as a dictator”, we-ell, I don’t know. He sure doesn’t seem to understand even the fundamentals of how the government operates, who does what, how.
It’s like if I had enrolled in a Chinese language class down at the community college, and I just had only one week of classes.
This “president thing” is something Trump knows little of, but will be finding out.
What he has going in his favor is outrageous stuff like this just feeds his supporters, the same way the red meat dished by Gingrich & Co. excited Clinton suporters.
Both, being unconventional, use emotional outbursts as a smokescreen for something more nefarious and substantive that goes by with little notice.
