Cub Scouts boot 8-year-old transgender boy

Joe’s mother got a call saying he couldn’t continue with the pack because he was born a girl.

Kristie Maldonado said she was stunned because her son had been a member of Cub Scout Pack 87 in Secaucus for about a month and his transgender status had not been a secret. But some parents complained, an official from the Northern New Jersey Council of Boy Scouts told her — even though her son had been living as a boy for more than a year and was accepted as a boy at school, she said.

“Not one of the kids said, ‘You don’t belong here,’” Maldonado said of the Scouts in the pack.

“It made me mad,” Joe, said. “I had a sad face, but I wasn’t crying. I’m way more angry than sad. My identity is a boy. If I was them, I would let every person in the world go in. It’s right to do.”

It’s the parents, (the so-called adults) not the kids, who make an issue out of stuff like this. The kids don’t care.

I will not win friends or influence people with this remark, and to be clear, I believe that the BSOA should without a doubt be all-inclusive, but…
What 8 year old knows their sexuality?
Could anyone familiar with sexuality at this age, please enlighten me?
(Hell, I was just finding the damned thing at that age…)

It’s an honest question and a situation I struggled to understand for years. This video was part of a series that MSNBC ran a couple of years ago. They are all moving but Jacob’s story touched me in a way that I’ve never forgotten. Maybe this will offer some insight.

Huh! There’s always something more to think about than I thought.

I like this video for transgender discussions because it removes the sexual orientation from the equation…which so many tend to get hung up on.

believe it or not, children even younger have known they were different. i got this from stories of transgendered people explaining that as an adult who made the change, knew they were different. it’s like adults who are gay will tell you, they always had those feeling for as long as they can remember.

Which is it this month? The Boy Scouts switch back and forth from ‘patriotic’ to ‘religious’ as it suits their needs at the moment.
