Trump says he’ll dissolve his foundation and distribute his assets.

The billionaire is taking steps to dissolve the Donald J. Trump Foundation, a nonprofit group under investigation by the New York attorney general, as critics contend that there’s no way for Trump to avoid conflicts of interest while in office, according to The New York Times.

Trump, under pressure to squash any potential controversies before he takes office next month, has denied that his various business interests and other dealings present any legal conflicts of interest…

Earlier this year, Trump paid the IRS a $2,500 penalty after it was revealed that his charity made an illegal political contribution to Florida’s attorney general in 2013, while she was deciding whether to investigate fraud allegations against Trump University.

In 2007, Trump’s wife, Melania, used $20,000 of the charity’s funds to buy a 6-foot-tall portrait of Trump painted by “speed painter” Michael Israel during a gala at Mar-a-Lago.

So the NY A.G. made it so simple, that even a chipmunk could figure it out: The attorney general’s office also said that if the foundation fails to immediately discontinue solicitation and fails to file requested information that’s required within 15 days of the notice, the bureau “shall be deemed to be a continuing fraud upon the people of the state of New York.”-NY A.G.
