Sanders: Carrier ‘took Trump hostage and won’
Bernie Sanders sees this deal for what it is.
Click here for reuse options!“In essence, United Technologies (parent of Carrier) took Trump hostage and won. And that should send a shock wave of fear through all workers across the country,” Sanders said in an Op-Ed in The Washington Post on Thursday.
Sanders key point: If corporations want cushy tax cuts, all you have to do is threaten Trump and say “we’re moving to Mexico.”
“He has signaled to every corporation in America that they can threaten to offshore jobs in exchange for business-friendly tax benefits and incentives,” Sanders wrote.

Threaten to close your business and move, get a check in the mail from Trump, what a great country this is!

Corporations have always been able to do that, and always have done it. Whether they actually move or not depends on which way makes them more money. Do you think the Japanese car makers put factories in the South out of the goodness of their hearts? They got huge tax breaks, and no unions. Cheaper than paying Japanese workers, and then shipping the cars to the US

it’s not the corporation and the stock holders who do it – it’s the top dogs manipulating a golden parachute. Fk the workers across the boards.

Obviously corporations don’t do anything. It’s the board of directors who do it, to protect themselves and the shareholders. If the profits aren’t high enough, the shareholders will vote them out.
