Priebus: Clinton backing away from ‘deal’ cut with Trump

Posted by | November 27, 2016 14:13 | Filed under: Politics

Reince Prebus says Trump and Clinton “cut a deal” election night and questions if she is honoring it.

Priebus tells “Fox News Sunday” that Clinton’s team “cut a deal” with Trump’s team specifying that once The Associated Press called the race in favor of one candidate, the other would call within 15 minutes to concede.

Priebus says that’s just what happened election night.

But now he’s questioning whether Clinton campaign lawyer Marc Elias is backing down from that deal by announcing Clinton will participate in a recount in Wisconsin and may do the same in Michigan and Pennsylvania. The push is being led by the Green Party’s Jill Stein.

I doubt if there was an actual deal. A concession doesn’t mean she couldn’t call for a recount if there’s enough reason.

    • Peter diroma November 27th, 2016 at 17:17

Right, they agreed to concede after the AP called it and Hillary Clinton conceded. She followed the terms of the deal. Any recount is a separate issue.

      • Jack E Raynbeau November 27th, 2016 at 18:20

Where can we see this agreement?

        • StoneyCurtisll November 27th, 2016 at 18:35

          In writing~!
          Come on Jack…
Everyone knows the system is rigged…(unless you win)
          Mein Trumpf said so himself…

‘No mandate’-Priebus is very worried about 5,000+ Faux WI votes uncovering GOP frauds. Recounts occur when the Dems 48%, 2 M+ vote winner supposedly lost to DT’s 46%.

    • John Henson November 27th, 2016 at 17:32

Priebus is an asshole and didn’t even support the pumpkin until he had won the primaries. Oh, I almost forgot; trump is the biggest asshole ever to win any election in our country.

      • ohpaleasegivemeabreak November 28th, 2016 at 10:58

        You are far too kind.

Drumpf is the single biggest asshole ever.

  3. Comicus November 27th, 2016 at 15:35

One’s word is bond… unless one is Donald Trump.

  4. StoneyCurtisll November 27th, 2016 at 16:44

    “it’s rigged, rigged I tells ya”..(unless I win)

I think the most important thing to stress from the Clinton camp is that she is NOT calling for a recount in order to change the election results; but to verify the election results. There is a HUGE difference. Verification that everything is on the up-and-up would be a great boon to the trust in our system. Whereas discovery of vote tampering or padding on any significant scale would be a HUGE blow to our democracy and would de-legitimize just about every election result in the country. If fraud could happen in one state, why not another?
This is why I for one pray that the recounts do not significantly change the vote tallies in any of these states. As much as I want Trump to NOT be the president I would rather the election system integrity NOT be compromised.

So long as HRC campaign stresses that this is their preferred outcome I would hope it would keep the criticism and calls of “sham recount” to a minimum.

      Your comment history speaks volumes…
I agree with your single comment..
But I suspect your account created today (Nov 27th 2016)..

Not a lick of Russian…. But I don’t know why you are attempting to discredit my opinion?

What about my statement do you disagree with, or find suspicious?

Note, I don’t know what the Clinton camp is thinking internally, my statement is merely about what they should emphasize if they are smart about it. If they publicly call for a recount and hope for the election results to change…. that would be a terrible decision on their part and will only further the unrest and division in the nation.

        • whatthe46 November 27th, 2016 at 19:11

Clinton did not call for a recount. Jill did and so far it has proven a good idea considering what happened there. the other swing states need to be visited as well.

        • StoneyCurtisll November 27th, 2016 at 19:28

I didn’t say I disagree with your statement..

I do question your comment history, all two of them now…

I’ll leave the suing to Trumpf..
              My apologies for being suspicious..

                  I can’t answer that question…
Does the same to me at times…

There is already unrest and division in our country and has been for 7+ years largely due to the RWNJ’s efforts to keep it that way.
It’s ironic that the republican party, in this election cycle, has now been experiencing the same division within itself, FROM it’s self.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in the pursuit of assuring that the vote was clean and fair. The problem is obviously, that it was not and in fact, the election results were compromised.
Wisconsin is one big fat yellow flag.
I would submit to you that the republican party had far much more to lose than just an election.
As long as it appears that it is only Jill Stein calling for the recount, the “deal” that was made has not and will not be dishonored.
However, one should always remember that there is NO honor among thieves.
IMO,Your worry about “our system” falls short of the real issue here.
It’s our country that needs to be to focus of our worry.

      _____
he’s NOT fit and he lost the popular vote by over 2 mil. there are real reasons that there needs to be recount/audit in swing states. it has already proven that WI manipulated the votes in tRumps favor.

    • fahvel November 28th, 2016 at 01:47

but your election system does not have complete integrity since the people’s vots can be reversed. People=democracy.

  6. John Henson November 27th, 2016 at 17:36

Since he is now threatening to prosecute her, he should go ahead. And while he’s at it, maybe we can find out a little more about that 13 year old girl he “allegedly” raped some years ago. He might even be persuaded to reveal his tax returns… Oh wait – that would mean he isn’t hiding anything. Cry the beloved country.

    • whatthe46 November 27th, 2016 at 18:09

considering he has absolutely NO standing what-so-ever to prosecute her, goes to show he doesn’t know a damn thing. and as for the media, apparently a non-issue email “scandal” is more serious than the rape of children.

      • John Henson November 27th, 2016 at 18:46

        I couldn’t agree more.

  7. Jack E Raynbeau November 27th, 2016 at 18:19

    Deal? Yeah right.

  8. Kevin November 27th, 2016 at 18:46

I can’t see what the man is on about, as far as I can tell the deal has been honored and as such is no longer relative. AP called the election, Clinton called as required, end of that deal, its time was limited to specific events which have been performed. Any new events would therefore require a new deal to be made.

    • StoneyCurtisll November 27th, 2016 at 19:33

You didn’t get the Trumpf memo?…
      The election is rigged~!
And we ain’t gonna believe it, (unless he, trumpf wins)

Are you talking about Rancid Putrid?

  9. BigD November 27th, 2016 at 19:08

Here’s the real deal. When a recount happens, no matter who calls for it, all candidates want to have one of their own there for the recount. So they join the recount to make that happen. Jill Stein called for the re-count. Hillary joined to make sure her interests were covered too.

  10. fahvel November 28th, 2016 at 01:44

arrrgghhhh, they are all mealy mouthed chicken shts. This recount business seems to be having more weird reaction from the loony right – something is there and the opposition to rump should not stop the pursuit until a pure unquestionable result is in – that should include the dissolution of the electoral college crap which the rest of the world wonders about. The Tories are alive and well – sadly.

  11. robert November 28th, 2016 at 01:56

The deal must have hinged on a legit election.
