His rejection is, sadly, Betsy DeVos’s gain, although neither would promote what should be promoted–public education.

Falwell, Jr. — son of religious right icon Rev. Jerry Falwell and president of Liberty University Christian college — told the Associated Press on Saturday that President-elect Donald Trump made him an offer of the cabinet position last week at a meeting in New York City.

Falwell said that he has two more years left in his contract at Liberty and Trump wanted a four-to-six-year commitment for the post. Furthermore, he does not want to uproot his family, including his 16-year-old daughter.

The pastor said that be believes DeVos to be a “great choice” for the cabinet position.

In the past, Falwell has said that if more Americans had “concealed-carry permits,” then “we could end those Muslims before they walked in.”

That line about Muslims should be enough to disqualify him for any public position. And by the way, we could say the same thing about extremist “Christians.”

A religious zealot in charge of the nations childrens education?…
    Why not appoint an Ayatollah?

The one he did name is not much better. Under her, the public school systems would fall apart, and the families who can’t afford a private school would be left with kids in warehouses with no money to spend on books. Might as well be living in Mississippi.

No idea which one is worse. The last comment is wonderful. Ah, murder, a true Christian value, no need for a trial or the expense of prison.

So Donnie was seriously considering appointing a proud theocrat to the office wherein he would set national educational policy?

With Trump calling the shots, the nation’s intellect will be de-evolving.
