Justice to investigate shooting of black man by Baton Rouge police, seen on shocking video

The Justice Department’s civil rights division will look into the shooting of Alton Sterling, says Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards.

The U.S. attorney’s office, the FBI and state police also will be involved, he said.

Edwards said he has “very serious concerns” after having watched a cell phone video of the shooting.

“The video is disturbing to say the least,” he said.

He said officials agreed there should be an independent investigation.

“There should be no doubt in anybody’s mind that this incident is going to be investigated impartially and thoroughly,” the governor said.

The graphic video shows a deadly encounter outside a convenience store.
Two police officers pin down Alton Sterling, a 37-year-old black man, then shoot him as he lies on the ground.

The video, shared widely on social media, quickly sparked local protests and drew national attention.

I counted off 6 seconds after Two cops where on top of him and the first of 2-4 shots where fired by Police..
    For selling CD’s?

It would seem there would be a lot of alternatives to dealing with this. The store owner said he knew the victim and he just supplied a new recording of the incident. If anyone would have a problem with someone selling CD’s outside the store it would be the owner and he did not seem to have a problem with it. These cops went out of their way to create a problem that did not exist. They have a real problem they are dealing with now though.

How many investigations have we had about these instances and yet nothing has changed. I want answers of how they will prevent these unjustified shootings (i.e. murders) in the future. It is like praying for the victims, it is just putting a dress on a pig. If you don’t have solutions, why have investigations?

The son crying broke my heart, I want to see any republican watch that video and not become emotional. If they don’t have any sense of empathy for that young man, they are heartless.

Remember when there weren’t any investigations…???
OK, not near enough go down and a bunch still beat the rap but it’s better than it’s been and there does seem to be a little speck of light at the end of that long a$$ tunnel.

      As to R’s giving a fk…??? you’re dreaming…

well, putting lipstick on a pig doesn’t mean crap. it’s still a pig. as far as i’m concerned, it’s for show. because we’ve had, how many murders caught on tape and they (the agency) fight tooth and nail to cover or keep it out of the criminal system? once in there, they are still found not guilty of wrong doing.

I believe most of us are pissed off that this happens (let alone the fact it happens frequently) and I hope that the majority want this to change.
