Brexit leader admits what was promised won’t happen

Nigel Farage admits what a sham Brexit is, that it can’t deliver what was promised.

…Farage [is] a British politician and head of the UK Independence Party. Farage has long championed the so-called Brexit, and triumphantly spoke to supporters after the vote saying, “Dare to dream that the dawn is breaking on an independent United Kingdom.”

Hours later however, Farage sang a bit of a different tune.

ITV’s Susanna Reid cornered Farage directly on the morning show Good Morning Britain alongside her cohost Piers Morgan. “The 350 million pounds a week we send to the EU, which we will no longer send to the EU, can you guarantee that’s going to go to the NHS?” pressed Reid (the National Health Service is a public healthcare system in Britain, and the 350 pounds figure equates to about 481 million USD).

And now, on the precipice of world history having just raised the bright flag of victory, Farage began his backtrack. “No I can’t, and I never would have made that claim,” he responded. “One of the mistakes that the Leave campaign made…” he continued before being shut down by Reid.

“That was one of the Leave campaign adverts! That that money was going to go to NHS! That’s why people — many people — voted!” she said incredulously.

    • Mike June 24th, 2016 at 10:16

I would have been surprised if this hadn’t happened…

i remember when our state was voting on opening up a lottery. the proceeds would benefit education.

        never, EVER happened.

        • Mike June 24th, 2016 at 10:26

FL said the same thing but included seniors…the money has since been appropriated and less than 12.3% actually goes to education or seniors.
We’re not alone, it’s happened in many other states.

            it’s corporate sanctioned theft.

Most states made similar claims about lottery money, and it didn’t increase the funds going to education, it just decreased the amount from the budget.

        hey, yourself, whatthe46!

it’s been a while, hadn’t it? been going well, has it? hope so.

the world seems to be on the edge. through it all, we’ll comfort each other as best we can. rearrange the deck chairs so we’ll at least be comfortable for the closing ceremonies.

this brexit thing only proves their people are just as easily frightened and as poorly-informed over there as here. my opinion.

        sigh….

Nothing like hindsight, after voting on such a crucial issue for your country:

Millions of Brits who voted in favor of Brexit … and are now watching their life savings disappear are probably muttering to themselves:
“WTF! Now he bloody tells me …”
