For the record. I am a moderator and operator on that site. Who have I stalked and who have I trolled? I understand that this isn’t the proper venue to have this discussion with you. But in all fairness, the only reason why our blog became a topic on your site, was because a user who posts comments here, callously took the contents of a private message and spammed your comment thread. I was made aware and came over to flag their comments.

While I do not approve of Ricki/Mockingbirds actions. I can understand why they felt the need to take issue with two individuals who’re posting on your site.
Hypothetically speaking- If I were to take a private conversation that you and I had, doctor it, then spam another site with the contents of that conversation to demean your character. I would understand if you were to be upset about it. I would expect that you would seek to have those comments removed. When trying to get those comments removed, would you appreciate a mod telling the person spamming the thread to instead of posting so many comments, condense it all into one comment instead?

It is willful ignorance at work. By any reasonable metric, gun control around the world makes a huge difference, but facts and statistics mean nothing to those that have their own agenda. Here is one small illustration, what happened in Australia when they said “enough is enough.” This statement is from an article on Policy.mic :

It is just amazing how facts are ignored by this group. They deny global warming also, it has to be in their DNA, how can a person choose to ignore data? They are the same ones who believed the earth was flat even though the you can see the rotation of the sun and the moon.

At the time I did not know what was going on. At first I thought he was referring to comments in a video he had posted, because of the time stamps. As soon as I realized the inappropriateness of it, I asked that it be removed and it was, very quickly. I asked him to refrain from activities like that and he has.

Some you would have to be an expert to pick out, very subtle, but wow the Bobby Parker one was note for note. LOL Probably not unusual for coincidental “sound alikes” to happen sometimes, but there is some blatent copying. Yet, I still love Led Zepplin, always will.

Probably! Stairway to Heaven got the most scrutiny, to me that was not the most noticeable. There was some similarity, a few notes here and there and a tone thing happening, but if I were on the jury, I’d call that a coincidence. Now that Bobby Parker one? WHOA!

Heads up folks, Alan was kind enough to set up this free space so we can chat with others and yet remain on topic within the individual news pieces. It has come to our attention that the space is being misused by a handful want to complain about another site, pick and bully on individuals from said site and all in a very disingenuous manner. We all regret the occasional statement, and delete the regretted comment but I can think of no reason why you would need to delete 150 comments in less than two weeks time unless you are covering up your bullying.
The mods here, Alan, Anomaly, the writers all work hard to make this a pleasant and open forum for all but it’s not your private playground – and you know who you are.
So last warning, please stay, engage in the topics, respectfully “rib” your friends and add value to the site. Otherwise, you will be banned and your comments removed.

The recent spate of ugly comments was all too typical of the kinds of stalking and threats that make any site difficult, and are counter to good debate, arguments, and exchange of ideas and information.

Carla, I have been talking about the subject of this thread. This is a liberal site and I have been talking about liberal values. I posted a question about the changes being made to Disqus and addressed a post sent to me and I was not misusing this site as far as I can see. That isn’t who I try to be and I have had no problems getting along on other sites. I don’t let trolls bother me. I answered the claim that I wouldn’t last 10 minutes on some site I have never even heard of, but assumed it was a conservative site. I didn’t bring that up and only tried to explain why I wouldn’t even go on a conservative site.
I didn’t say anything that I need to regret. I will always defend free speech and personal responsiblity. If your comments are addressed to me, please explain. Because I haven’t a clue what is going on here. I do not understand why my original post caused all the responses that have been sent to me.

Questions regarding disqus and it’s use are fine. Inside jokes, bullying, quotes made by others, pulled from other sites and the constant flagging of each others comments in a concerted effort will not be tolerated.
If I have to spend more than a minute or two trying to determine the topic of an exchange (due to some inside joke/mocking) and there are a rash pf flags thrown within the exchange – EVERYONE goes.
Inquiries or statements made in your choice of topic are fine here – in fact it’s where they belong as an open thread but I am not a hall monitor, we are supposed to be adults and ganging up on another reader coming from another site will not be tolerated. Alan expects the moderators to handle these events, freeing his time for better things.

then I am fine, I didn’t flag. I posted a question and in response I got a bunch of flake which I tried to address. All I did was point out after being told I wouldn’t last on some site, that over the years, those things had been said to me and I was still posting, didn’t back down, and wasn’t intimidated by trolls on any site. I was defending my position on my original post.
Others were trying to bully me and it wasn’t working. My point is that adults shouldn’t need to react like some of them were when exposed to opposing views. I am sorry if you or anybody else misunderstood what I was saying, but I was not the one doing any of the things you listed. I don’t have time for that. I am looking for a site where liberals can do more than pat themselves on the back for calling Trump a Chee-to head. Knowing what the problems and issues are is step one but then we need to act to do things to stop the efforts to wipe out the middle class and to never give the struggling families a chance to begin with.
I do not even know anything about the site they were talking about.And I have no problems with people on any other site. I came here because tracey, allison, and Gina said it was a good site. And I have no problem with them. I did not say anything that should have been flagged and I didn’t say anything I should be banned for. I stuck with liberal values. I have never had a problem with a moderator on any site I have been on.

Freedom of speech, like all our freedoms, has limits.
Our freedoms also carry with them the responsibility to use them appropriately.
If a bunch of nitwits from some other site show up here and select you at random for bullying as part of an effort to trash this site, don’t help them out.
Many people are fine with discussing various subjects from various angles and will go into depth on a subject. Others just want to fight and hit and run. They won’t really discuss a topic.
Those people are best ignored.
Resp[ond like they want and they’ll keep coming back.

thanks for the advice, but I didn’t do what you are suggesting I did. And if you missed it, then I am not sure how much you can contribute to this part of the issue..

I wasn’t afraid and I didn’t say or do anything differently than I have on any other site And I have never ever had a problem with any moderator on any site.
What you described is what I thought I would find by coming here. That is what I was told by other friends who had been here. I don’t see that it has worked out that way.
I didn’t see all of the hoopla either, I posted my original comment and then responded to the ones I got. I didn’t know what some were even talking about. I don’t care what you “buy” or don’t buy. I don’t think the moderator read my posts or knows what I was saying, there may be some kind of mistake in communication and maybe the other posts got more attention and mine got lost in the hoopla. I didn’t say anything I need to regret, didn’t behave badly and wouldn’t take anything back. This isn’t the site I thought it would be and I m looking for a more serious minded group of people. I want to actually see people act on the knowledge they learn and try to save the nation using facts, logic, and reason.
I don’t know what the problem is with the communication here but somehow it isn’t working out. I wish everyone well but I don’t need or what this kind of drama. Thanks for the input.

First, as one who has complained about things, I feel it is important that people appreciate the time and effort put in by the moderators and Alan to give us this site. I’ve said before and will say again that from time to time we should let them know we appreciate all they do.
If the juveniles persist, I have for many years advocated a solution: for Liberaland to have a jayvee board. Decorate it like a kindergarten classroom and everyone’s avatar will be a dunce cap. The names they log on with will be changed to the diminutive. In my case, fort example, I’d post as “burqy.”
From time to time a popup window will cover their screen and they’ll have to complete and pass a pop quiz before posting again. This quiz would have 10 or 12 problems for them. These problems will be simple addition and subtraction, states and capitals, vocabulary and spelling, stuff like that on a second or third grade level.
Moderators will be designated as babysitters.
When miscreants log on here, they will not be able to post here, but will be sent to the Liberaland Junior Varsity Board so the grownups can have a more civilized time together.
