Man who called Orlando shooting ‘community service’ fired form Walmart

Posted by | June 18, 2016 09:13 | Filed under: Top Stories

The Cobb County Georgia man lost his job over his insensitive and inflammatory tweet.

The Marietta man, whose real identity is not known, uses the Twitter handle @IWillTryLater and wears a Walmart vest in a profile picture, but has changed his posts to private since a Sunday post. At least two Twitter users sent the offensive post to Walmart’s corporate page.

“Y’all see a Gay club shooting as a horrible tragedy,” the employee’s post read. “I see it as someone doing Community Service.”

And soulless pundits in the right wing blogosphere will decry the violation of his right to “freedom of speech” in … 3 … 2 … 1 …
… once again demonstrating that they have no clue what the 1st Amendment is really all about.

the thing about freedom of speech is, while you may be free to voice your opinion, there are consequences when you say stupid $hit. something they will never learn. they do it everyday on twitter and facebook.

The best part of this is the busy-bodies who reported him to Wal Mart. Because losing his job will definitely change his attitude against the LGBT community. I’m certain it will cause him to pause and reflect, and come to the realization that his beliefs are just wrong.

    NOT!

Retaliating against people who say things like this perpetuates their hate and likely only reinforces it. I’m sure he thinks it was the ‘filthy gays’ who did this to him.

You cannot change someone’s mind by dropping bombs on their children. Retribution NEVER changes anyone’s mind.

I wouldn’t want someone working for me who said such a thing wearing my company’s uniform. Would you?

Perhaps the ‘busy-bodies’ were Walmart shareholders concerned about this person diminishing the value of the brand.

He worked at Walmart, they did him a favor. He may not be mad at all, he may even feel vindicated and is already planning the next chapter of his life and how he can spread even more hate.

Hates “GAYS” thought a “community service” was done, worked at Wal mart so he probably like most of their employees needed public assistance to survive. The one thing i hate more than a homophobe is a poor, broke, homophobe “TAKER”

    • whatthe46 June 18th, 2016 at 15:53

they were right to fire him. good on Walmart.

      • RandyBastard June 19th, 2016 at 10:20

Walmart will NEVER do the right thing. They will only do the things necessary to hold their economic position. If Trump wins and we sink into fascism Walmart will be busy firing people because they refuse to inform on their neighbors or want to see equal rights for the LGBT community.

This isn’t a win for the good guys. This is public retribution aided by a frightened corporation… and it’s wrong.

Even Walmart seems to have minimum standards

    • bpollen June 19th, 2016 at 04:13

As minimum as they can legally get away with. But bad publicity can turn out to be pretty expensive, so they gotta do the occasional “See, we’re not evil” act as damage control.
