Homeland Security: Don’t use terms like ‘sharia’ ‘jihad’

Posted by | June 17, 2016 09:44 | Filed under: Politics Religion

A Homeland Security Department report says words like “jihad” and “sharia” should not be used.

Under the section on terminology, the report calls for rejecting use of an “us versus them” mentality by shunning Islamic language in “Countering Violent Extremism” programs, or CVE, the Obama administration’s euphemism that seeks to avoid references to Islam.

Under a section on recommended actions on terminology, the report says DHS should “reject religiously-charged terminology and problematic positioning by using plain meaning American English.”

Government agencies should employ “American English instead of religious, legal and cultural terms like ‘jihad,’ ‘sharia,’ ‘takfir’ or ‘umma,’” states the June 2016 report by the Council’s countering violent extremism subcommittee.

Homeland Security will be the next victims of the right wing talking points, especially in agreeing with Obama!

There is a case to be made that Islam needs to modernize.

But the same case can be made for the fundamentalist wings Christianity and Judaism.

If I could magically end one form of outdated religious thinking, it would be the notion of religious territory.

This idea of a “Jewish state” or a “Muslim country” or a “Christian nation.” (or, to be consistent, state sanctioned atheism)

Rather than any one religion, territorialism is at the core of endless death and strife for centuries.

And, sadly, it’s exactly what “Sharia free zones” perpetrate.

Only thing is that Jewish is a nationality as well as a religion while all of the others (Muslim, Christian, etc.) are only religions. So there can indeed be a Jewish country just as there is a Polish country, a French country, a Spanish country, etc.

No, Jewish is not a nationality it is a religion. Just because a group of people with certain beliefs decide to make a religion their nationality doesn’t mean the rest of the world has too.

No, absolutely incorrect. Jewish is a religion, Jewish can refer to a people, but Jewish is not a nationality. Israeli is a nationality, but not all Israelis are Jewish. Nor are all Jewish people Israeli.

What can you say except that being politically correct will not save us from any more terrorist attacks. This bunch of bureaucrats cannot be removed from power soon enough.
