Court: Second Amendment doesn’t contain right to concealed carry

A San Francisco-based appeals court upheld a California firearm restriction.

“As the uncontradicted historical evidence overwhelmingly shows, the Second Amendment does not protect, in any degree, the right of a member of the general public to carry a concealed weapon in public,” the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said in its opinion. In a 7-4 vote, it upheld the previous ruling of a three-judge panel of the appeals court, which had been appealed to the full court.

“The Second Amendment may or may not protect to some degree a right of a member of the general public to carry a firearm in public. If there is such a right, it is only a right to carry a firearm openly,” the opinion said. “But Plaintiffs do not challenge California’s restrictions on open carry; they challenge only restrictions on concealed carry.”

The opinion noted the question of open carry had not been answered by the Supreme Court.

Bwaaaaaa…. And then they read SCOTUS D.C. Heller requiring annual background checks, adhering to local laws and fees paid in advance just to keep a gun at home!

Never quite “got” why, if you’re so proud to have a gun, and you reeeeeeallllly reeeeeeallllly want to carry it around, you know, to fight crime and defend ‘Murkuh, why would you feel the need to hide it? Are you afraid that your deterrent will actually deter a crime, and you won’t get to shoot a “thug”? Or are you, perhaps, a little more concerned then you want to admit about being seen as the actual danger you are by sane people?
Go on;have your firearm! But unless you’re an undercover LEO, society has every right to know about the threat you represent.

I go back-and-forth on concealed carry versus open carry.

On one hand, with open carry you know who are the dangerous people.

But on the other, open carry is blatant intimidation.

Military and police train constantly on how to react in crisis situations. Most of these yokels you see talking about how they want to defend themselves and their families would wet themselves if it went down, and it would most likely be all over before they got their wits about them.
