Former actor Kirk Cameron now fashions himself an advice-giver on marriage.

The actor-turned-Christian evangelist had some of this advice this week, telling the Christian Post that women should “follow” their husbands’ leadership.

“Wives are to honor and respect and follow their husband’s lead, not to tell their husband how he ought to be a better husband,” he opined. “When each person gets their part right, regardless of how their spouse is treating them, there is hope for real change in their marriage.”

            God’s word never changes. Not with the times or as you say, ‘adjust to the new paradigm.’

              Kirk Cameron is correct? All I can say is that, if Kirk Cameron is “correct”, I prefer to be “wrong”. If it is “wrong” to treat women like equal human beings worthy of respect, then I will choose to be “wrong” every time – at least on this issue.

                Kirk Cameron lives his life according to the Scriptures. They are God’s instructions. Although Kirk Cameron unfortunately does not adhere to all God tells him to do.

                You misunderstand as most people do what it means to be the head of his household and treat his wife as Yeshua (Jesus) treats the Church. He loves them. The biblical definition of love is somewhat more difficult in the Christianized Bible than the original Hebrew definition.

                Being a submissive wife (Proverbs 31 woman) does not mean subservient to man. If the world would live according to God’s instructions then we would not have all that we see today in our world. We would have order instead of chaos. Children would have two parents, one male and one female to be their examples and teach them their gender roles in life. The fathers are to be the leaders and heads of their household. There was a time when men were expected to be and in fact were “the bread winners.” They brought home the ‘bacon’ so to speak. The mothers job was to be a good wife, a great mom and keep her home and family in order under the father. It was modern woman who changed things when the likes of Gloria Steinem and Roe vs Wade. These things lead to the downfall of faith, family and moral values. Our once great Nation was great because we lived as a Christian nation. One Nation under God. God was our head, our husbands were under God. There job was to instruct the children, discipline them, teach them along with the mother who had her womanly role in the children’s lives.

                Gloria Steinem made woman believe they were subservient. Husbands were not given the right to mistreat their wives or not respect them. But the final say was to lie with the husband and father.

                If we listened to God’s instructions then marriages would not end in divorce because of sexual adultery or physical, emotional or mental abuse. I could go on and on but you and others like you really don’t understand and you don’t care to. It is just easier to throw up your hands and let the chips fall where they may. We are seeing the results of living life our own way doing our own will rather than doing things God’s way and allowing God’s will to reign in our lives.

                  The Bible is the work product of a highly patriarchal culture that held women in lower regard than men – that they are lesser beings and subject to control by men. At best, it amounts to “pat the little woman on the head and take care of her because she’s less capable than you are”. Of course there’s going to be a period of transition as we move away from that model. The privileged rarely surrender their position of privilege without a fight. As usual, it’s “Bible believing” Christians clinging to the notion that men are somehow due deference.

                  While I agree with you that, if we listened to God, marriages would not end because of sexual adultery or abuse, the truth is that most people don’t listen to God and that men are far and away more often the offender in such matters. Many men have failed to realize that women should not be treated that way and that they don’t have to sit still and take it. I don’t suppose it occurs to you that one possible outcome of this unrest is that it will end up with more people following God’s will than have ever done so.

Studies have proven that the children of the religious are LESS moral than the children of the secular. Actually things ran better in matriarchal cultures until the violent patriarchal ones came along. Women in charge tend to care better for both men and women than men do when they’re in charge. You couldn’t be more wrong, you brainwashed, ignorant, sad creature, if you tried.

                Hello Marla, Yes God never changes. His Word endures forever. His instruction are for a lifetime. The world changes of course, but not God’s instructions. He didn’t give us His instructions to make our lives difficult. He gave them to us out of His deep love for us. He wants to be our Father. He gives us the ‘right to become His children” (John 1:12). Until we realize we are sinners in need of what God offers through HIs Son and come into covenant with God, we are merely created by Him but we aren’t part of His family yet. What man who is a father does not lay down rules for his children to follow so they aren’t hurt or harmed?
                The more time marches on, the worse we see the world becoming. It is vital for us to know God and for Him to know us so we will be protected through this terrible time of Tribulation. People will be tempted to take the mark of the beast because without it no one will be able to buy or sell anything. Soon “the” Antichrist” will be revealed.

                I would suggest a Movie Kirk Cameron was in that was actually done by an ordinary church group called, Sherwood Baptist. The Movie is called, “Fire Proof:” Kirk Cameron’s real life wife stood in for the woman who was playing his wife in the movie for all kissing scenes. Kirk Cameron and his wife, Chelsea, have 6 children and I believe they still have their ministry called, Firefly. It may help you understand. There are other Movies by these two brothers from this small church. They are Flywheel, Facing the Giants, Courageous, and their newest one Prayer Room.
