POLITICO founder: Mobile, video are the future; clicks dead
Jim VandeHei knows where the Internet is headed.
Click here for reuse options! In all likelihood, the revolutions in video and digital will merge into one: with a new generation of media companies producing content we watch at home, listen to in our car and read wherever on the go. And thanks to technology, all your devices will know what you want, where you are and how to serve up content the way you want to consume it at that very moment.
Just like the Web destroyed the newspaper world; mobile will destroy the desktop world and on-demand video will destroy the TV and cable world. But from the rubble will emerge a much better, more eclectic, more efficient way for all of us to watch, read and listen. It will be brimming with content we can be proud of—and happily pay for.

Like many, many others, I haven’t bought a newspaper or magazine in maybe 5 years, I got rid of cable 10 years ago…yet I still read the NYT’s and WSJ everyday, can read any magazine article, and can watch any show I want whenever I want…
I just don’t see how it can be any easier….

Lots of predictions of imminent death of any industry are flat out wrong.
There are simply things that can’t be done worth a damn on a 7″ screen.

I still like to have an actual newspaper in my hands. Although crossword puzzles can be done online, it doesn’t compare with ink on paper. I subscribe to the NYT crosswords, and print them out every Saturday and Sunday.
