Library of Congress to no longer use term ‘illegal alien’

Good, as a human being cannot be “illegal”.

After a two-year push by a group of college students, the U.S. Library of Congress will no longer use the term “illegal alien” instead opting for less offensive terms like “noncitizen” or “unauthorized” immigration when categorizing material.

“[R]eferring to undocumented immigrants as ‘illegal’ is increasingly viewed as dehumanizing, offensive, inflammatory, and even a racial slur,” a resolution sent to the Library of Congress by the American Library Association stated.

One response to Library of Congress to no longer use term ‘illegal alien’

if someone isn’t a citizen, isn’t here legally, than they are illegal. No matter what anybody else can think of to label them, they are still illegal and still not citizens. If everyone changed what they called them, then THAT would become the slur, just a new one. And it will become offensive to people who are here illegally.

That I point out the obvious doesn’t mean I am biased.I support a legal worker program where workers can come and go and as needed, and getting paid wages and benefits as any other workers, same and equal with safe working conditions and having the ability to call police if they are mistreated in anyway.

I can’t blame illegals for coming here, not when I know I would do just what they did to get here. I also favor stopping businesses who go into foreign nations and abuse the people, and the environment and then sell goods here. There should be a way to force them to not sell their goods here unless that protect the environment.
