Don’t know if its worthy of a post, but is certainly interesting and worth learning about. Maybe just a little extra reading for those that want to know more.

Stingrays have become so secret that prosecutors have dropped criminal cases to avoid facing questions about them …

Maryland Appellate Court Rebukes Police for Concealing Use of Stingrays …

    • Suzanne McFly March 31st, 2016 at 10:52

I have never heard of a Stingray (other than the beautiful creatures in the oceans) and the article doesn’t really describe what one is. From the wording, I think it is a device that can pinpoint the location of a cell phone if it is turned on, is that correct?

      • mea_mark March 31st, 2016 at 10:57

Some more info on Stingrays …

Police departments have also been using them at protests, supposedly, to gather information on who is there.

        • Suzanne McFly March 31st, 2016 at 11:22

Well it seemed to be created to fight “terrorism” but now it is used without warrants to literally police the public (we lost a lot of personal protections due to the “terrorism” some claim they have protected us from). I see the ACLU is fighting it, but we should all be more aware of what is happening to our personal privacy. I know it is easy to think “well I am not a terrorist or selling drugs so I am safe”, but in a couple of these links it describes how anyone in the vicinity of a Stingray with a cell phone will have their signals picked up also. This affects all of us, I don’t know how this could hurt us but the fact there is no over site on who gets this opportunity to know our personal business goes against all that we claim to stand for. I am rambling on, but I think it is ridiculous we aren’t in the streets protesting this invasion of our privacy.

          • mea_mark March 31st, 2016 at 12:42

Yeah, it is a growing issue that not many people are aware of. All sorts of intel can be gathered and it can be done by departments that are small and unethical. I’m thinking small towns that are one party oriented using the technology to oppress all opposition. It could be the start of a modern day high tech oppressive feudal system.

Looks like the US attorney general is going to have to sue Wisconsin.

      • Suzanne McFly March 31st, 2016 at 10:50

They never even planned to let the public know what type of ID’s would be required from the day they drafted this new law. I don’t know why a person would want someone so devious representing them. The republicans love to cut corners so they can have the state pay for their lawyers, it seems like a common set of circumstances.

When I looked at the draft of 6589 dollars, I have faith that brother of my friend was like really generating cash in his free time with his PC..oag His aunt’s neighbor has done this for only 11 months and by now repaid the loan on their home and bought a new Car.

Talking about “Stingray”…this photo of a Cessna has no markings and I found no evidence of any private ownership of this plane…apparently this could be one of those “Stealth Planes” of the FBI…just sayin’…

O/t….I just had my first face to face meeting with our newly awakened “Yogi Bear”…He/She was rummaging through my garbage cans, and making quite a racket…I thought it was the neighbors dog at first….My doggie was going nuts and trying to get out….so, I was going to go out and scare the dog away…but, When Yogi stood up and looked at me from about ten-fifteen feet away, I invited him to stay and enjoy breakfast…and I took my leave back into the house….He/she turned and ran as well…I couldn’t get to my camera quick enough and it was still dark…but I am now aware of the critter, and the trash gets hauled away today…

How about a story or two about the Democratic candidates?
Scrolling down the front page, I don’t see a single story about Sanders or Clinton… just tons of stuff about Trump and Republican messes.

Hillary just got dinged for yelling, and jabbing her finger, at an activist who asked her about pledging to stop taking money from the fossil fuel industry.

Bernie just had a massive rally in the South Bronx.

Yet, there’s no mention of anything going on.
Just a bunch of “look at all the sh*t the Republicans are doing” stories.
While I appreciate being able to keep up to date with Repub shenanigans, I also highly value info on Dem candidates.

    • MBJR April 1st, 2016 at 19:22

Thank you. I’ve noticed the same but didn’t comment because I didnt want to be perceived as a winer. We just received a lecture about this site being fare and balanced. Im really beginning to hate those two words.

      • Kick Frenzy April 2nd, 2016 at 01:16

Yeah, I think I saw something about that lecture somewhere along the way, but I missed the bulk of it I think.
But I think asking for some Dem coverage is well within the “fair and balanced” portion of our commentary. :)

But this reminds me… I want to suggest another story (not that it’s new, but it’s pretty f*king awesome.) in a new comment on this thread.

    • oldfart April 2nd, 2016 at 10:31

You weren’t the only one who noticed the trump overload here !
Two notable stories as of late, Hillary’s composure loss by pointing a finger in the face of a green supporter and her campaign capitulating a debate with Bernie in New York. Both of these recent events may not be considered newsworthy per say but I consider it to be quite telling…political calculations not withstanding.

      • Kick Frenzy April 2nd, 2016 at 22:45

Hillary’s outburst has certainly become a headlining story.
At least the part that’s debating the validity of Sanders claims is making headlines, anyway.
(From what I can gather, his claim that she “heavily relied on” contributions from fossil fuel is exaggerating things, but the basic part of her taking in a good chunk of money from them is true.)

And the debate should be news!
The more information about there even being an upcoming debate, the better.

        • Hirightnow April 2nd, 2016 at 23:21

Did Bernie return that $50k+ to his fossil fuel donors yet?

          • Kick Frenzy April 3rd, 2016 at 17:06

There’s a big difference between lobbyists bundling money together (which is where Hillary got her individual contributions from) and people who happen to work for companies in the industry.

            Here’s an example:
Lobbyist for Big Oil gives money – I consider that money from the industry.
Truck driver for Big Oil gives money – I do not consider that money from the industry.

            • Hirightnow April 3rd, 2016 at 23:56

A> A Huffington Post article from July 17, 2015, cited by Sanders found that
“nearly all of the lobbyists bundling contributions for Democratic
presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s campaign have at one time or another worked for the fossil fuel industry.” It links to 40 registered lobbyists but only offers details on some donors who still work for the industry.(Politifact): I used to work for fossil fuel (cashier at a Mobil station)…does any political contribution I make get credited to big oil,as well?
B> All of this alleged big oil money adds up to less than 1% of the money in her campaign coffers

              • Kick Frenzy April 4th, 2016 at 02:01

The point is that a nice chunk of change is still a nice chunk of change.
And if you say you’re going to fight a thing, taking money from lobbyists of that thing is weird.

I don’t know all the details, but from what I understand lobbyists bundled contributions to Hillary and not to Bernie.
And even if that’s a small amount, it’s still true that she has received money from that industry.
Which is the whole point… not how much and not whether there’s influence for sure, but just that she has gotten money from them.

But as I mentioned before, Bernie’s claim that she “heavily relied” on their contributions seems exaggerated to me from what I know.
So I’m not really giving him credit for that, just that it’s not a lie that she gets money from them at all.

Clark County NV just flipped at delegate convention and went for Bernie. Means whole state is likely to go into win column for him. Very good news.

The Silver Fox bares his soul.
Recently I’ve been listening to this wonderful performance.
For those who don’t know, Charlie Rich had a troubled marriage. He cause a lot of pain with his philandering. One story that comes to mind was when his wife caught him red handed with a girlfriend. I think they were in the back seat of a car.
Anyway, after the wife left them, the girlfriend started to cry. Rich asked her, “Who are you crying for, you, me, or her?”
The girlfriend replied, “I’m crying for all of us.”

Rich’s wife, Margaret Ann wrote a number of his songs and often they were about the relationship they had. The following is one such tune, combining country with Memphis funk.
That’s Jerry Kennedy on guitar and Pig Robbins on piano.

Here’s one of the most awesome stories related to a presidential candidate AND their significant other!
(Although, the title should really be “How Jane and Bernie helped shape…”)

How Bernie Sanders Shaped the Northeast Punk Scene
In Burlington, Vermont, 242 Main Street was originally the location of the city’s water department. A nondescript building situated near the campus of the University of Vermont and across from a jewelry store, it would look more like an old middle school if not for the graffiti covering the front door and the sign next to it that reads, “Celebrating 25 Years of Art & Music.”

It isn’t a household name like the now-defunct CBGB in New York City, and it doesn’t get the same recognition in the punk rock history books as a spot like 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley. But 242 Main Street is special in its own way: Nearly 30 years after opening its doors, it is now one of the longest running all-ages music venue in the country, beginning as an offbeat government-funded effort to overturn a draconian city ban on live music that resulted in the transformation of an old administrative building into the municipal youth center that exists to this day.

The leader of that effort, and the person perhaps most responsible for the founding of 242 Main, was Jane O’Meara Sanders, the director of the Mayor’s Youth Office who later became the president of Burlington College and now serves as a commissioner for the Vermont Economic Development Authority. As for the mayor who was partly responsible for this DIY, youth-run venue that played host to bands like Fugazi and opened the same month that Husker Du released Candy Apple Grey: It was her husband, Bernie Sanders, now a Vermont Senator and Democratic candidate for president in 2016.

Well, now I’ve seen it all…Vagina Beer. -yes you read it correctly-

“Apparently, someone thought that it would be a cool idea to mix one’s love for beers and vaginas in the most mind-blowing way – this resulted in the creation of the ‘vagina beer’. Yup, now you can actually order a beer made from the essence of vaginas.”

“The vagina beer is the brainchild of the start-up The Order of Yoni that brews beer using the vaginal bacteria of Czech model Alexandra Brendlova.”

What’s this whole “just helping out a brother in hard times” crap?

    He’s a convicted murderer!
It’s not like he can’t get a job because he robbed a convenience store… he took a persons life, maliciously!

You know who’s having a hard time?
The family of Laquan, that’s who.

F*k them and the blind horse they rode in on.

It’s a tough call (for me)
He hasn’t been convicted of anything… yet.
Certainly it’s troubling, but if we truly believe the credos espoused by our Founding Fathers, Mr Van Dyke is innocent until proven guilty.
I see nothing wrong with the union helping this guy other than the optics…they probably should have tried getting him a job with one of their “friends”.
Unions are in place to help dues paying members, not to be part of the angry mob.
Justice for Laquan will be found in a court of law, not the union hall.
