TEHRAN (FNA)- Seven Muslims have been fired by a Wisconsin company amid a prayer-break dispute. Muslim employees took unscheduled prayer breaks after the company ceased accommodating work stoppages that allowed workers to pray in accordance with their faith. Have the fired Muslims bow down and pray to this Jesus.

For anyone who has never worked on an assembly line … you can’t just leave, the line has to be shut down and everyone on the line has to stop working.

You don’t get brakes for religion, should have been smokers.

    • Larry Schmitt February 8th, 2016 at 07:59

You don’t get unlimited breaks for smokes either.

        I know, I know.

Might be asked to leave too…or have your health insurance go up

Can’t expect people to give up the Pall Malls.

It can be part of your employment and/or be part of you health insurance coverage charges

              • 80HD February 8th, 2016 at 08:17

We have incentives and reduced rates for that, where I am employed.

not everyone works where you do…it is a tough addiction

      • Dwendt44 February 8th, 2016 at 11:44

I could be wrong about this but I think the company doesn’t allow smoking on company property, period. A lot of group health insurance companies insist on that.

When I was at the Pentagon back in the 80’s, smokers had to go outside to indulge (of course). If your office was on the E ring (outermost) the nearest exit to outside was on the A ring (the courtyard in the middle). It’s a five minute walk each way. So some smokers were taking 15 minute breaks (5 minutes there, 5 back, and 5 to smoke) several times a day, without ever going off the clock. Needless to say, this caused some resentment among non-smokers. But it being the Feds, nothing was done about it. Might be different now.

you can and DO if you tell ’em you’re a Kristian (even while living in ADULTERY) and refuse to uphold the laws of the United States of America under sworn oath ’cause that’s your belief.

An employer is not required to give an employee accommodations for religious activities. If they choose to and it doesn’t affect the business, fine. Lots of Christians have to work Sundays when they would rather not. Jews have to work holidays when they would rather not. Obviously the majority of the Muslim employees would rather have a job. I’m sure god, whatever they call him, would understand. If he doesn’t, tough.

They actually are by federal law.
The accommodations have to be reasonable, as in not adversely effecting the company or government agency.
      .
They were fired for not showing up for work for three days during the dispute. It looks as if the employer did try to make reasonable accommodations.
They even said that those fired employees would be welcomed back.

      http://www.eeoc.gov/laws/types/religion.cfm
      Religious Discrimination & Reasonable Accommodation

The law requires an employer or other covered entity to reasonably accommodate an employee’s religious beliefs or practices, unless doing so would cause more than a minimal burden on the operations of the employer’s business. This means an employer may be required to make reasonable adjustments to the work environment that will allow an employee to practice his or her religion.

I stand corrected. But the key word is “reasonable.”

  5. rg9rts February 8th, 2016 at 08:07

shutting down production is more than accommodating

  6. Warman1138 February 8th, 2016 at 08:23

Sounds like a bad place to work.

    • granpa.usthai February 8th, 2016 at 09:33

I’m pretty sure it will be, their product quality will probably go to zero and the company will be coming out with more BS about how they’ll go out of business if they don’t all hunker down and work together as a team -yada yada yada – meanwhile it’s the buyers of their products that get screwed.

      • RandyBastard February 8th, 2016 at 13:04

They’ll be in business long after you forget about your fake outrage.

    • RandyBastard February 8th, 2016 at 13:03

They accommodated the workers for many years.
They built special prayer rooms for those workers.

Sounds like a great place to work.

Being in WI I have heard a great deal more about this situation and I’m convinced they were faced with a financial hardship due to the excessive time away from production lines if they were to continue the policy.

Remember, when one or two workers leave a particular line, that entire line has to shut down while they walk to prayers, wash their feet, pray, and then walk back to the line.

  7. Budda February 8th, 2016 at 08:33

They chose their religion over their job. No sympathy from me whether they are Muslim or Christian. Wonder about unemployment now?

    • Larry Schmitt February 8th, 2016 at 12:26

As far as I’m concerned they voluntarily gave up their job. Therefore, no checks for you.

  8. granpa.usthai February 8th, 2016 at 09:23

-then why not fire the Kentucky ADULTEROUS ADULTEROUS ADULTEROUS ADULTEROUS county clerk?

  9. mistlesuede February 8th, 2016 at 11:20

If they get two breaks and a lunch break, that is fair. They should fit their prayers into those times. It seems like the company is doing a lot to make this work, but the workers also have to realize it is a business. If they lose $$$, they will start layoffs.

Wisconsin is one of those sink or swim states backed by a governor who enjoys union busting. I don’t know the entire Muslim firing situation but ” at will ” employment is king in this state and your swimming up a waterfall if you think its going to change anytime soon.
