You have to start somewhere. Let’s at least make the classes free. Getting books from someone who took a class or a used book store can save lots of money and some books should be made available online for free.
What this country needs is Vo-Tech schools. My husband’s company can’t find anyone who can weld, lay pipe, finish concrete, run wires etc. The superintendents are all older men who will not be around much longer, most of them have already retired.
When they are gone, I have no idea how jobs are going to get finished because they are always having to go out in the field and fix stuff that no one else knows how to fix now. Most things they do with those huge pumps have to be exactly right or within 1/16th of an inch or they won’t work, so it can’t be just slapped together like the cheap, substandard houses they build now.
They build municipal water treatment facilities all over the country… just think about what a mess this country is going to be in soon when there are no workers capable of building important things like water treatment or bridges or railroad systems.

Now all we have to do is make those classes free so any one can go to school and not have to work 2 jobs to do it.

Its not the class prices in Community Colleges, it is the price of the books that will kill you.
