The frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, Hillary Clinton, who faces a formidable challenge from Bernie Sanders, wrapped herself in President Barack Obama’s mantle at Sunday’s Democratic presidential debate —just over two weeks before the Iowa caucuses. Clinton, praising the president on everything from Obamacare to his efforts to reform Wall Street, positioned herself as the defender…

Well it is obvious she listens to polls, we can say that about her.

and she knows about HC issues, she has been fighting for them since the 80’s. It was bernie who brought up polls.

Bernie’s government run Health Care program is a true Health Care system. Insurance companies are NOT in the health care business, they are in the for profit insurance business. Medicare for all makes sense.

Instead of paying premiums (employees and employers) you would pay taxes and a lot less in taxes than premiums.

Obviously insurance companies, big pharma and for-profit hospitals are against this.

    Screw em.

I support his idea but when people hear they have to pay higher taxes they quit listening. He said premiums and fees will go down because we won’t be supporting huge insurance companies but I don’t know if that was heard, I hope it was. I guess we will find out in a couple days.

But then what happens to all the employees of the insurance companies? Big consequences come as the result of big changes, and this would be a big change. I’m not saying it’s not a good idea, but there are a lot more questions.

Reality check…O was lucky to get ACA,,,you remotely think this plan stands a snowballs chance in hell?

          • Larry Schmitt January 18th, 2016 at 08:36

I’m just considering all the possibilities. With all the money lobbyists pay to congress of both parties, you’re right, it probably wouldn’t even get to the floor. But my question is one that someone should ask Bernie.

It is the idealism not the reality…did that with George in 72… much smarter now.

              • Larry Schmitt January 18th, 2016 at 08:46

I understand idealism, but not when it comes at the expense of reality. My nephew insists on voting for the Libertarian, Gary Johnson. I told him, without trying to dissuade him, that he knows he will never be president. Wild cards like that can draw the winning margin away from the better choice, and we wind up with someone like Bush. Or Cruz.

                  Nader ring a bell?

That’s what I was thinking of. Virtually all of the votes he got would have gone to Gore, or they wouldn’t have voted at all.

seems that a lot of people don’t recall their history…

There are a little bit south of 500,000 insurance agents in the US.

Agents have a rare job of making a middle class wage ($47,000) without a college degree.

That is a problem facing Bernie.

      • tracey marie January 18th, 2016 at 08:41

It is not his idea, that is what annoys me. This has been an issue since the Clintons tried for Universal HC.

      • Budda January 18th, 2016 at 08:48

You are correct in that people hear “taxes” and turn off. The answer is in replying not about “taxes” but your cost will be less.

That idea will never get past the empathy challenged right. “Not with MY hard earned money”.

What he is doing is working…why attack it?

  4. labman57 January 18th, 2016 at 10:24

Since Clinton was a top member of Obama’s cabinet, it would have been a bit disingenuous and hypocritical to do otherwise.

  5. robert January 18th, 2016 at 10:48

why wouldn’t hillary embrace obama ? A counterproductive strategy but hey its CPAC $ so i could give a rats ass

  6. DogsRgoodpeople January 18th, 2016 at 13:42

When she was talking about Bernie’s health care plan at the end of her statement she said
he wants to tear down what we worked for ” or something close to that. As if he’s going to leave us all uncovered until he gets his plan in place. She’s talking down to us the way GOP politicians talk down to their base .

I’ll take either one of them

I would think big business would be in favor of the Medicare for all option. The business would get to eliminate the premiums they pay for employees and instead split the taxes 50/50 with the employee. Factor in that over time wage growth would be reduced to offset the 50% that the company is contributing and soon 100% of the tax burden would be on their employees while they look like the good guy in offering to pay half of the costs.
