Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson who ran as the Libertarian candidate for president in 2012 will seek that nomination again in 2016. He knows he can’t win, but hopes to be a spoiler.

Johnson told me that while he knows he realistically can’t win the Oval Office, he is hoping to play “the spoiler role” in a race he thinks will come down to Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton. Gov. Johnson also told Alan how he plans to get invited to presidential debates, why he compares Donald Trump’s candidacy to the way he won in New Mexico, and if former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura will have a role during his campaign.

    What’s the point of being a spoiler? Would he be proud of himself if he pulled enough votes away from the democratic nominee to get some asshole like Cruz elected? That’s the kind of thing Nader did. Nader got almost 3 million votes in 2000, and assuming most of those would have voted for Gore, we wouldn’t have had Bush. These fringe candidacies never accomplish anything.
