Mississippi Governor: Obama ‘Attacked Our Faith’ By Welcoming Refugees
To Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, welcoming refugees to the United States is somehow an attack on Christians.
…Bryant was among the governors who demanded an end to the resettlement of Syrian refugees in the U.S., calling the plans to take in at least 10,000 refugees “extremely dangerous” and pledging to “do everything humanly possible to stop any plans from the Obama administration to put Syrian refugees in Mississippi.”
He appeared today on the American Family Radio show “Today’s Issues” to highlight his opposition to refugees, citing a group of Syrians who turned themselves into U.S. authorities on the Mexican border as further proof that America is facing a serious threat from the refugees.
Bryant also told American Family Association President Tim Wildmon that “the president wants to attack our faith” by saying “that we as Christians should be more open and welcoming.”

Since they are last in most state rankings, I don’t think too many refugees would want to go there anyway.
The Original Just Me November 30th, 2015 at 18:05
I can see why he doesn’t want needy refugees in his state. They would out class the natives.

That is the character of the typical Christian, but they claim they are ALWAYS doing God’s work. LIARS.

Actually that would be the average GOP supporter – not Christians. . .

It’s not like their Holy Book is silent on how to treat strangers.
Exodus
22:21 Thou shalt neither vex a stranger, nor oppress him: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
23:9 Also thou shalt not oppress a stranger: for ye know the heart of a stranger, seeing ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
Leviticus
19:33 And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
25:35 And if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.
Deuteronomy
10:19 Love ye therefore the stranger: for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt.
24:17 Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow’s raiment to pledge:

Yeah, but that’s all from the OT, which they only embrace when it serves their purposes.

Didn’t know that Mississippi was high on the list for Syrian refugees.

Yup, I cannot picture many Syrian refugees saying “geez, I wanna go to the most right wing state in America”.
whatthe46 November 30th, 2015 at 17:53
what gets me is, these ugly ass people say this crap with a STRAIGHT FACE. it’s so matter of fact to them. they are so cold hearted and seriously sick minded.

He didn’t attack your faith, he highlighted your hypocrisy but being a fundie talibagger you can’t tell the difference.
majii November 30th, 2015 at 18:35
Bryant is wasting his time calling himself a Christian. I’ve been a Christian for almost 60 years, and nothing can be used by anyone to “attack” my beliefs. I think Bryant had to say something to further the right-wing meme that this president “hates” Christians in America when he doesn’t. His comments serve the further purposes of questioning the president’s Christianity, painting him as “Other,” and as not being an American citizen.

nutzies have to have a ‘new religion’ (zhey are de master race, therefore their religion HAS to be better than others – REAL CHRISTIANS included).
Chris November 30th, 2015 at 19:16
Just one little lesson from the Bible for this likely Bible-Thumper-Not-Reader:
Christ told the parable about the Good Samaritan to teach guys like him a lesson as to who his neighbor was, who he was to treat as well as himself. Samaritans were absolute pariahs to the Jews of his day, the last people that Christ’s audience would sympathize with.
Kinda like Syrian Muslims to this ignorant governor.

You would have to pity any Syrian refugee who has the bad luck to end up in Mississippi.
“You know, on second thought, I’d like to go back to Syria and take my chances with Da’esh.”
