Muslim Group Getting Death Threats

Hassan Shibly of Florida’s Center for American Islamic Relations told me Friday night that his group has been getting death threats since the Paris attacks.

We also discussed parts of the Koran that detractors of Muslims say promote violence against non-Muslims, how American Muslims should address the hatred they receive, and what should be done about ISIS. Shibly says terrorists committing vile acts in the name of Allah aren’t Muslims and, in fact, have “exited Islam.”

    There are over a billion people who practice Islam, the segment who claims to be Muslim and commit heinous acts is at best 0.0004% of this population. That is like claiming all white people are like Timothy McVeigh, Charles Manson, Dylan Klebold, Adam Lanza….

      still I am glad he is brave enough to speak out…I realize many muslims want to stay quiet and apolitical because they are targets of domestic terrorism but I am still glad that there is someone out there willing to speak to the public for the community…I think its a good Idea for american muslims…(who are americans) to participate in the conversation…but of course for those who feel they can do it…I think anyone who feels to vulnerable it’s understandable why they are quiet….;)
