Huckabee Terror Attack Plan: First Pray
Mike Huckabee tweeted that the first thing he’d do as president if we were to be attacked would be to pray.
The first call I would make after a terrorist attack is to drop to my knees and make a call to God. Pray. #PFF15

That’s what the terrorists are doing. If praying did any good, couldn’t it prevent the attacks in the first place? This is like praying for rain when there’s a drought. Who caused the drought in the first place? Reminds me of when you had to pay the phone company for Caller ID on your land line, but the caller could pay the same phone company to block your Caller ID.
lorddevonshire November 22nd, 2015 at 06:55
I’m suddenly being reminded of when soldiers in the trenches thought that prayer and bibles could block bullets. (didn’t work of course but they tried it)
Elliot J. Stamler November 21st, 2015 at 18:22
If one is religious exactly what is wrong with that recommendation? Or is it your view, Alan, that prayer in inherently bad or stupid?
F_cons November 21st, 2015 at 18:31
There is little more stupid than prayer. Pray for anything, get all religious morons to pray and then. show me any indication that silent, idiot chanting, had any effect except keeping you from sleep for a few minutes. prayer – the evidence if psyshosis
Elliot J. Stamler November 21st, 2015 at 18:45
Your insulting and arrogant comment shows why many atheists are detested in this country.
Carla Akins November 21st, 2015 at 18:48
Because we’re smart enough to know you should actually be doing something in this situation and not praying? Detest away, if that’s where your priorities lie, your opinion is irrelevant.
lynchie November 21st, 2015 at 18:55
Just as we detest you and your make believe horseshit. show me one, just one documented case where prayer worked
FatRat November 21st, 2015 at 19:21
I can only think of one good prayer. Aretha Franklin I say a little prayer. lol

Yeah, you can be an Atheist and have soul. lol

But not a soul.

It worked for me in my life, you insulting. vulgar, ignorant lout.
whatthe46 November 21st, 2015 at 19:29
you’re already going to hell. pray away.
bpollen November 21st, 2015 at 20:00
Well, please, show me the reproducible evidence of the efficacy of prayer. People have been praying “Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men” for quite some time. How’s that been working?
Dwendt44 November 22nd, 2015 at 00:53
The studies done on if prayer helps or not seems to indicate that it does nothing at best and may make things worse. Those ‘prayer’ for seem to reduce their efforts at fighting off disease, etc.. and get worse faster than those that aren’t prayed over or about.
bpollen November 22nd, 2015 at 01:10
Shhh… I’m trying to lead him by his Pinocchio nose to the truth. Though, I admit, you can bring some boors to reality but you can’t make them think.
Dwendt44 November 22nd, 2015 at 00:56
Atheists are ‘detested’ because most if not all clergy demeans them, lies about them, criticizes them, and categorizes them as people without morals (false) or conscience (false).
Elliot J. Stamler November 22nd, 2015 at 13:11
No clergyman in any house of worship I have ever attended and I am a senior citizen has ever uttered the demeaning and untruthful comments you cite…as justification for atheist bigoty….so robustly demonstrated by atheist haters in this column. And even if it were so, did your parents never teach you that two wrongs do not make a right?
granpa.usthai November 22nd, 2015 at 01:15
they’re becoming more and more acceptable everyday.
they have common sense
the religious Nutzis are fast becoming no sense.
MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 22nd, 2015 at 05:11
Praying really makes no sense.
As for atheists being detested, I think it might have more to do with the fact that we’re derided as godless heathens, bound for the pits of hell.
MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 22nd, 2015 at 05:12
Totally what Jesus would say, amirite?
bpollen November 21st, 2015 at 19:56
I would recommend, if you are going to pray, do it while your ass is running to do what is necessary. You want your ER doctor to go to chapel before he works on your pierced aorta?
Elliot J. Stamler November 22nd, 2015 at 14:04
You again…your vitriol and radical intolerance apparently extends to all religious people on this planet. You are a perfect example of how radical leftists are the mirror of radical rightists. As to the efficacy of prayer you could not experience it because you have turned your mind rigidly against it’s existence. My anger at you is not because of your belief but because of your total lack of good manners, common courtesy, and respect for what your fellow citizen may deeply believe in. Like some (NOT ALL) atheists you display the same bigotry of a Ku Klux Klansman. I have never defamed atheists for being atheists; you can not refrain from defamation of the 90%+ of us who are believers.
craig7120 November 21st, 2015 at 20:33
Perhaps it’s both inherently bad and stupid.
Is it not true that praying would be admitting a god made a mistake, and the prayer is requesting that the god change the path that has been laid out?
Just a thought
Elliot J. Stamler November 22nd, 2015 at 16:45
No…as a believer I don’t believe God makes mistakes…it is man who makes mistakes including over history, fanatics, lunatics, crooks, demagogues who pop up to misuse and abuse religion. It is wrong in my view to blame God for the errors and sins of men and women..wrong but very easy for those incapable of accepting or even acknowledging their own sins. In writing that I don’t believe God makes mistakes I believe as virtually all of us Christians and Jews believe that it is impossible for us to fully understand all of God’s purposes–try as we can. The Book of Job deals with this and there are ever so many books of commentary on this precise point.
craig7120 November 22nd, 2015 at 18:14
I appreciate your reply.
I would steer clear of speaking for christians & jews though, as you’re clearly admitting you don’t know the mind of a god, you also don’t know the minds of millions of people.
Admittedly you haven’t a clue what the plan a god has for you, as an atheist I think you should trust in a god you have given unlimited knowledge too and let “god” decide what’s best. Otherwise your god is no more existent than the thousands of gods that came before the current crown holder.
Side note: I like that people pray, not only does it reaffirm my way of thinking, I do believe the mind can do wonders in the ways of collective thought.
Trust in the mind, it’s a good thing.
Robert Kennedy November 29th, 2015 at 01:45
Wasn’t making people fallible a mistake, or is he a sadist?
granpa.usthai November 22nd, 2015 at 01:13

lota wasted time there where you could be mounting a defense.

When the firing starts, everybody line up in orderly ranks, bend you heads, and pray that Gawd will keep you alive long enough to fire back. Brilliant military strategy.
Dwendt44 November 21st, 2015 at 20:52
Pray or don’t pray the results will be the same. Nothing fails like prayer.
StoneyCurtisll November 21st, 2015 at 21:40
let us all remember that Huckabee is polling in the single/fraction of a digits…
Nothing to worry about.

Still with the delusion that he’s going to be president.
Fortunately for him, Obamacare covers that.

Elliot J. Stamler November 22nd, 2015 at 16:34
I don’t agree. Christie, Kasich, Pataki are certainly not crazy…wrong, in my view but not crazy. Fanaticism and the authoritarian mind that produces it, is indicative of psychological disorder…some of the Republicans are certainly that, not all. Trump is the most seriously mentally disordered of all of them; he suffers from acute and long-term Narcissistic Personality Disorder. I recommend those interested to read any good medical article on the internet about this particular disorder. Possessing it as he does would make him the most dangerous president of all of them in that it is distinctly possible he could foment or blunder us ino world war iii.
Obewon November 22nd, 2015 at 16:57
No probability of being nominated or elected nationally are “Christie, Kasich, Pataki”
