Anti-Muslim Sentiment Growing In U.S.

Sadly and predictably, Islamophobia is getting worse in the United States following the Paris attacks.

Muslims around the U.S. are facing backlash following the deadly attacks in Paris, including vandalism to mosques and Islamic centers, hate-filled phone and online messages and threats of violence.

Advocacy leaders say they have come to expect some anti-Muslim sentiment following such attacks, but they now see a spike that seems notable, stirred by anti-Muslim sentiment in the media.

“The picture is getting increasingly bleak,” said Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations. “There’s been an accumulation of anti-Islamic rhetoric in our lives and that I think has trigged these overt acts of violence and vandalism.”

…In Connecticut, the FBI and local police are investigating reports of multiple gunshots fired at the Baitul Aman mosque in Meriden hours after the attacks…

At the University of Connecticut, authorities are investigating after the words “killed Paris” were discovered on Saturday written beneath an Egyptian student’s name on his dorm room door.

Muslim leaders also have reported recent vandalism, threats and other hate crimes targeting mosques in Nebraska, Florida, Texas, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, New York and other states.

of course it is. America talks a good game about liberty and justice for all.

But when the rubber hits the road, just ask Japanese citizens in this country how their liberties were protected in this country between 1941 and 1945.

Mark my words, if the dark day ever comes that we have a Republican President and a Republican Congress, there will be serious talk of repeating FDR’s infamous executive order, but this time targeting Muslims. I have no doubt that the TeaPartying FOX news devotee who rants about getting back to the Constitution, will be cheering such internment every step of the way.

A terrorist can destroy life and property. But only we can destroy the ideals upon which this country is supposed to be based. From what I have seen over the past week in the news and other media, conservatives will be all too happy to help destroy those ideals, at least when it comes to Muslim citizens.

These so-called Americans are nothing but domestic terrorists. Religious right wing zealots filled with pure hate. In fact they are just as dangerous as the terrorists that attacked us on 9/11 and Paris this past Friday. They speak of freedom and opportunity but it only applies to themselves or others like them and not anyone else who is “different”. We need to rid this country of such scourge and force them (non-violently) to insignificance before this country dies….

It is just so typical that right wing fanatics would scapegoat thousands of people for the actions of a few. Republicans are well beyond pathetic fear mongers.

where is this outrage when white supremacists murder a black man? where is this outrage when a white man burns down black churches, stang, commit mass murder,…. all claim to be christians, yet use violence to make their point. where wss the outrage when that bigot opened fire on a black church, when, by his own admission, he was treated nicely by the people he murdered.the double standard makes me sick!!

Yeah, I don’t remember anybody calling for all whites or all Christians to denounce and apologize for Timothy McVeigh.

Some people are heavily engaged in a pell-mell headlong rush to Dystopia.
