Cruz: ‘Any President Who Doesn’t Begin His Day On His Knees, Isn’t Fit To Be Commander-In-Chief’
Pandering to the National Religious Liberties Conference, Ted Cruz says if you don’t pray to God you have no business being president.
Click here for reuse options!…an event organized by extremist right-wing pastor Kevin Swanson, who earlier in the program proclaimed that, according to the Bible, “the sin of homosexuality … is worthy of death.”
Swanson introduced Cruz by stating that Jesus Christ “is king of the President of the United States whether he will admit it or not and that president should submit to His rule and to His law” before asking Cruz to share his opinion on how important it is for “the President of the United States to fear God.”
Cruz, predictably, asserted that fear of God is absolutely vital, declaring that “any president who doesn’t begin every day on his knees isn’t fit to be commander-in-chief of this nation.

I have to agree! Rg was pissed the other day because I made a comment similar to yours. He answered “you have your own Comedy Central”. :) And he is right. Brazil has the worst government it has had in decades, unfortunately. The Congress and the Supreme Court bring droves of corrupts to trial. Most of them in the party of the government. A left, famous, formerly honorable labor party. * Sigh*

God, if he/she/it exists, doesn’t give a rat’s ass about this country or any other. If god cared more for this country than any other, a lot of the things that happened wouldn’t have, and a lot of the people who became president wouldn’t have. The fact that everything happens in spite of all those pandering phony christians’ claims that he controls things, is proof that he doesn’t. All these charlatans who claim in public that “god told me to run” have been complete failures. Maybe god should stop trying to pick presidents.
libpatriot November 7th, 2015 at 16:20
Well, I’ll up the ante with Cruz and say that any presidential candidate not familiar with Article VI, paragraph 3 is unfit to be President of the United States:
“The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”
–And how exactly does Cruz even know how the President starts his day, anyway??

Lois Lane: Oh, sure he is.
Jimmy Olsen: Real gay.
Clark Kent: No, no. Now, wait. I always heard he was pretty manly.
Perry White: Oh, ho ho! No way! You get Superman in a truck stop men’s room, you won’t need kryptonite to bring him to his knees.
Clark Kent: Hey, hey, hey! Come on! Really! Superman isn’t gay! Sure, he experimented a little back in Smallville …
[Lois, Jimmy and Perry try to suppress their laughter.]

The Original Just Me November 8th, 2015 at 07:33
If you are talking about standing and reciting the Pledge, Heavens NO, That was an honest out pouring of true opinion. I saw NO disagreement in it at all. It appears to be a subject that you do have strong but honest feelings about. Many of us are raised in different environments and each react as we feel is right. Yours is a stand that not only makes sense but one that I quite agree with. Mine is a memory of following along because it was never explained to me what I as really doing. In later years, I took the time to actually look at what the pledge is and I will proudly say it now as I do feel it is a true honoring of our flag and nation. For all of our faults and disagreements as a people, we still have the best there is. I taught some High School for awhile. it was only as a substitute but I really connected with the kids and administration. One day in a government class the subject of the pledge came up. I took the time out to explain the Pledge one word at a time. The whole class remained quiet while I was speaking. I was kind of amazed at the attention I was getting. When I finished, one boy stood up turned toward the Flag, covered his heart with his hand and started to recite the Pledge. The entire class stood with him and they all spontaneously said it together. When they were through they all sat down quietly. I was quite overwhelmed. In the next few days the students throughout the school started asking to recite it during home class period. The teachers and principal came to me and asked me about my little lesson. I just brushed it off as time well spent and let It go at that. I have heard that my breaking the pledge down to each individual word meaning is still being used in the lower grades now.
MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 8th, 2015 at 09:22
I am not sure what lecture you and Maggie are speaking about, but reading your story there it is clear that you had the best interests of your students at heart. The pledge is not meant to be a tool of indoctrination, but rather a voluntary expression of patriotism. One should not recite it if one does not understand it. It’s similar to my parents not allowing me to partake in communion until I was confirmed in the Episcopal Church. It’s not something to be taken lightly.

Factual education without emotion is the most valuable tool humans have. But Us and our children are not being taught to understand. they are only being taught to memorize.
maggie November 8th, 2015 at 10:18
that is super duper interesting…..the reason I stood up and recited the pledge for my war bride friend from Germany all those years ago…was that at the time…I knew MY generation was protesting the draft and Vietnam…..whereas I was standing up to recite it with her because really the world (us, uk, etc etc, ) had come to rescue Germany its enemy (from the war perspective) from it’s own military aggression not just against other states but it’s own citizens…..so I saw the reason for standing up to that as worthy…..the other time I stood up for the flag…(when I was in school) was every Monday the would play the state version of the national anthem typical military state band fare….so my friend and I were at her house “borrowing” her older brothers records….he had the jimi Hendrix album with the guitar anthem on it….so on Monday (student council does the announcements and the pledge over the intercom from the office) we went to the office and kicked the record under the door and crossed our fingers and ran to class …so there I was …all the kids over the years knowing that I don’t stand….I stood up and Jimi’s guitar solo anthem went out over the whole school….a friend that I’d known since 3rd grade was sitting/standing next to me….he just looked over at me….and whispered …”you did this”…..it was hilarious…..he had a big smile on his face….bear in mind…these are all kids from military families…..so ..I mean most of the military is not really fascist…but it has a minority of fascist types unfortunately…..but….people do have strong feelings about the pledge……but I think we are a stronger nation because it’s voluntary….free speech and free will are incorporated into our “rights and responsibilities” allows citizens to make decisions of conscience no matter which they choose….instead of the state choosing for them….Cheers, teachers are the best….;)
