Sesame Street Gets Autistic Muppet

Aristotle, a blind muppet, made an appearance in 1982 and taught Big Bird how to read braille. In 2002, the South African co-production of Sesame Street introduced Kami, an HIV-positive muppet who starred in…

That is wonderful, I have worked with multiple children who fall somewhere on the autistic spectrum and we have finally included some of these students into our classrooms. One way of teaching these students is to not focus on their exceptionality but to include them simply as a student. They are not a diagnosis, they are beautiful beings who are looking for a place that accepts them for who they are.

Well, i bet someone on the right is going to find a way to spin this to be bad, just like the they did with the Muppets!

What about a character that is bi–racial, transgendered, has a harelip, uses a wheelchair and talks with a speech impediment? Good grief, this is all getting a bit ridiculous.

How about a teabagger like you, on second thought that would be too scarey and mean.

Perhaps you forgot that “regardless of race, creed, color or sexual orientation” thing. It’s actually what defines us as a nation. Equality for all. It’s an American thing you wouldn’t understand. There was a society that had the same standards of “purity as you”, but their leader shot himself in a Berlin Bunker in 1945.
Now as far as wheelchairs?
Here is someone in a wheelchair whose lunch you aren’t fit to pack. She lost her legs as a result of combat woulds
Thanks for chiming in you miserable bigot. It’s always good to be reminded just how the right feels about handicapped folks.

That’s right William, put a foot in his a$$ for such a stupid comment!

So showing kids how to interact with those who are different is a bad thing, you just prove that study on the republicans brain to be true! Times are changing maybe you should just stay in the house or at least stay in a section of the country that caters to your kind!
William October 24th, 2015 at 14:24
…and BTW, while I’m on the subject. Never EVER forget that your kind got their ass kicked by a guy in a wheelchair.
whatthe46 October 24th, 2015 at 14:46
so, i take it you’re disgusted with bi-racial people, transgendered, those who were born with a harelip, those who have to use a wheelchair or talks with a speech impediment as well? you are such a lost parasite. you are the perfect spokes person for the hitler’s of the world.

Yeah, Smithson, we can’t go on polluting children’s minds with the thought that there are people who are not pure Aryan master race übermenschen. All those autistic people can go to the gas chambers, like the other undesirables.
It’s too bad for you that your side lost World War II.

A television program illustrating the very American concept that all people regardless of physical appearance, disability or sexual preference are all equal is a bit ridiculous?
Thank you very much for an excellent example of the kind of right wing ignorance I will fight every day until I take my dying breath.

Oh, I am sorry autism offends you. Trying to teach children offends you. Compassion offends you. Inclusiveness offends you.
You’re were the type of kid who’d be calling the autistic “retard” and then brag about how you can pick on those least able to defend themselves.
I find myself at a loss in determining an appropriate adjective to describe you – vile, despicable, revolting, disgusting, reprehensible… all fall so far short of truly capturing the cesspool that is your mind.
