Milford, CT Schools Cancel Halloween Because Of Religious Objections
Milford, Connecticut schools won’t celebrate Halloween this year.
Click here for reuse options!…administrators made the decision due to the high number of students who are not allowed by their parents to participate in school activities centered around the holiday.
Parent Victoria Johannsen told the Post that she received a letter from the principal of her third-grader’s school explaining that the school’s traditional Halloween parade has been canceled.
The letter explained that the decision “arose out of numerous incidents of children being excluded from activities due to religion, cultural beliefs, etc.”
Teachers and students were asked not to dress in costume on Halloween and classroom decorations should be limited to generalized themes of autumn. Furthermore, no candy or other food will be allowed…
School officials maintain that they are trying to respect the multitude of different cultures included among families in the school district.
“Milford Public Schools do have many children from diverse beliefs, cultures and religions,” said spokesman Jim Richetelli. “The goal is for all children to feel comfortable and definitely not alienated when they come to school.”

They don’t, why else do you think that by the they reach adulthood they are so sour and joyless?
StoneyCurtisll October 12th, 2015 at 18:23

granpa.usthai October 13th, 2015 at 00:14
there’s a lot better things to lick as an adult than ‘candy’
even if you’ve had little to no experience,
licking the good stuff comes pretty natural.
Obewon October 12th, 2015 at 17:15
If faux christian inbreds think owl hollows eve Halloween is ‘a religious holiday’, then you’re too stupid to parent, or homeschool anyone!
Milford, Ct’s cancelling the ‘pretend celebration-not a holiday’ decision “arose out of numerous incidents of children being excluded from activities due to religion, cultural beliefs, etc.”
Jimmy Fleck October 12th, 2015 at 17:30
So you cite the Celtic religious beliefs that were being celebrated concerning their dead to show that Halloween is not a religious holiday?
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 17:41
what does being dead have to do with religion?
Jimmy Fleck October 12th, 2015 at 17:45
Did you read the article Obewon linked? It is all about the Celtic Druids and their elaborate religious beliefs and how Samhain (the festival Christians converted to Halloween) was about the recent dead transitioning to the otherworld. Sounded pretty religious in nature to me.
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 17:48
i’ll have to give it a read.
bpollen October 13th, 2015 at 00:41
But that religion is considered pagan by the Christians who placed All Saints Day just coincidentally on the exact date of the festival of Samhain. In much the same manner that Christmas is in December, Easter coincides with pagan spring festivals, St. Valentine’s Day just happens to be one day before the Roman fertility festival of Lupercalia…
According to Christians, Gawd ain’t involved in any o’ them there pagan holidays.
Larry Schmitt October 12th, 2015 at 17:53
What is celebrated today has nothing to do with the Celtic holiday. It’s a time for people to have fun and get some candy. We are not Celts, and this is not the 10th century.
Obewon October 12th, 2015 at 19:02
Todays christian paranoids are now worried about “an ancient, pre-Christian Celtic festival”? The Celtics are coming! The Celtics are coming! Celtic law will takeover the ‘Meriklans law!
Wee Mousie October 12th, 2015 at 21:58
“The Celtics are coming! The Celtics are coming.
A big one just Riverdanced on my head!”

them flaxen haired Irish girls are beauts!
bpollen October 13th, 2015 at 00:43
“The Celtics are coming! The Celtics are coming!”
Ah, Boston, city of beans…
granpa.usthai October 13th, 2015 at 00:07
the REAL Christians stole this celebration from the celtics and made it one of their own celebrations as the eve of All Saints Day’ much like they stole the Tree Celebration Festival.
the NOT REAL Christians of today are merely trashing their religions adapted celebration in a fit of STUPIDITY.
Larry Schmitt October 12th, 2015 at 17:20
Just wondering what are the chances that the schools would cancel Christmas events because Muslims objected? Halloween has nothing to do with religion. Not the version that exists in this country today.
Pat Padrnos October 12th, 2015 at 17:31
I think Halloween has just become a fun event – not only for children but adults as well. In our small city we now have what is called “Trunk or Treat” in the main intersection downtown. Countless cars are decorated for the event – given a spot to park and dispense treats and fun for all. Additional entertainment is provided – many youth based activities and entertainment. Some communities have gone to this method as a way to keep children safe and monitored. Jeez. I don’t know where to go with this article.
Wee Mousie October 12th, 2015 at 21:56
Straight to the circular file?
Allen Inman October 12th, 2015 at 17:20
I mean this with the most sincere appreciation that concerned parents want to do only the best thing for their children: DIIIIIIICKS.
aNYYANKEEinQueenHaleysCourt October 12th, 2015 at 17:33
holy shit..c’mon …just do it
Jimmy Fleck October 12th, 2015 at 17:42
The problem with the article is that they did not identify which religious group objected to the Halloween party. If it were local Muslims, then the righties would be pissed and the lefties would be praising the schools for treating everyone fairly. If the objections are from religious Christians, then the opposite reaction would be given where the lefties would be pissed and the righties would be praising the school. Come on – we need to know whether or not to be upset based on who complained- update the article please! :p
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 17:44
if it were muslims it would be all over faux entertainment. so, there’s that. it’s going to be so-called “christians.”
Jimmy Fleck October 12th, 2015 at 17:49
I agree that it is likely “Christian” parents that were complaining. Of course they will be the same parents complaining that the nativity scene can’t be set up at school this year.
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 18:02
that could likely happen. but, you’d hear from non-religions before you hear from muslims.
StoneyCurtisll October 12th, 2015 at 18:35
What religious identity did you not get?…
I’ll spell it out for ya.. C.H.R.I.S.T.I.A.N…
Who else plays the freak out card?
Who else in the USA claims their “religion is under attack” when they have a church on every other street corner and nearly every strip mall, in every town USA.
granpa.usthai October 12th, 2015 at 23:59
what REAL Christian would protest celebrating the eve of All Saints Day?
or, as named in the ENGLISH language
HALLO
WEEN.
Obewon October 12th, 2015 at 19:12
Don’t you know how to turn off GOP TV, and read? E.g. the only nutcases paranoid enough to fear people wearing Trump masks are due to “the objections are from religious Christians”
granpa.usthai October 12th, 2015 at 23:54
Jesus weren’t no Christian, so he wouldn’t have celebrated THE CHRISTIAN CELEBRATION ON THE EVE OF ALL SAINTS DAY, or better known to US children as HALLO – WEEN.
Gosh Darn I wish the RepubliCON Konservative Kristian Krowd would learn ENGLISH!
tracey marie October 12th, 2015 at 18:17
Back on, xtian parents complained that it is worshipping the devil.
StoneyCurtisll October 12th, 2015 at 18:48
Let’s all take a deep breath…
Halloween is not a “holiday”..
No one gets the day off work, the banks are open, mail is delivered, and November is just a day away..
Whats the fuss about?
Oh those religious people…
Can’t they just STFU one day out of the year?
Larry Schmitt October 12th, 2015 at 18:54
I get the day off this year. It’s on a Saturday.
rwgate October 12th, 2015 at 21:13
Slacker.
Larry Schmitt October 12th, 2015 at 18:56
It’s also not remotely religious, or anti-religious, or satanic.
StoneyCurtisll October 12th, 2015 at 19:12
You are correct sir~!
granpa.usthai October 12th, 2015 at 23:47
It’s a REAL Christian’s celebration on the eve of All Saints Day.
NO FOOLING
Google Halloween and see!
Wee Mousie October 12th, 2015 at 21:44
I thought that the good thing about our country enjoying cultural diversity was that everyone gets to learn about the traditions and celebrations of everyone else. Not that nobody can celebrate anything because there’s always somebody who can’t celebrate everything.
Bunya October 12th, 2015 at 22:10
This religious freedumb BS is getting out of hand. Screwing kids on Halloween is just downright unAmerican. I went 8 years in a Catholic school, and not once did the priests and nuns give us any sh*t about trick or treating (except to warn us about razor blades in apples). I really wish these fanatics would be raptured up already, and leave the rest of us in peace.
pignose4.0 October 12th, 2015 at 22:26
the war on Halloween has begun.
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 22:40
PROTEST! PROTEST! PROTEST!
Tommie October 12th, 2015 at 22:33
IMO, i always thought that this would be one holiday that churches wouldn’t celebrate because of the worship of witches, ghouls and demons! According to Rush Limbaugh, this holiday is just teaching our kids socialism since they are begging for free things! Haha!
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 22:40
well, ain’t that just grand. coming from the fker that looks like he lived off halloween.
Warman1138 October 12th, 2015 at 22:49
Beware the wrath of The Great Pumpkin! Treat The Great Pumpkin with respect or Linus will kick you in the nads. All hail The Great Pumpkin! Hail! Hail! Hail!
granpa.usthai October 12th, 2015 at 23:45
HEY! -anybody googled Halloween?
appears it’s a REAL Christian’s celebration.
FOR REAL!
people protesting Halloween ain’t the REAL Christians – avoid these ‘children of Satan’ (as so noted by Jesus)
whatthe46 October 12th, 2015 at 23:56
stop scaring me! waaa waaa
rg9rts October 13th, 2015 at 04:11
all saints day eve
bpollen October 13th, 2015 at 00:30
Maybe it wasn’t religiously based. Halloween is a straight lift from Samhain, so maybe they just hate Gaels.
CandideThirtythree October 13th, 2015 at 00:44
Now they can cancel Christmas because of the same reasons…who wants to take bets it does not happen?
rg9rts October 13th, 2015 at 04:10
AAAAHHH FAUX will be in their glory …the war on christmas at last..
David Ish October 13th, 2015 at 15:49
It will never hapen TOO MUCH $$$ are made with it
rg9rts October 13th, 2015 at 04:08
It never was a “Holiday” …it was something for kids to do….. till the big kids appropiated it as another excuse to get drunk and act the fool… the fun was in making up your own costume ….damn you know how many cross dressers were in their glory???
fahvel October 13th, 2015 at 04:38
what a collective of simple minded ass-holes.

Here is an interesting thing, an opportunity for work for those who want to use their free time to make money using their computers… I have been doing this since last two years and I am making 50 to 90 dollars per hour … In the last week I have made 16,320 for almost 18 hours sitting ….
>There are no special skills required just basic typing and an internet connection ….
>There are no time constraints … You may do this any time when you are free ….

Years ago our local mall had a tradition of encouraging parents to bring kids in costume to the mall on the Saturday before Halloween, stores would offer them little treats, it was a lot of fun for everyone. Well, nearly..there was a ‘Christian’ bookstore that refused to participate. Not only that, I noticed their staff would stand at the entrance scowling at the kids and their parents and they seemed hostile to everyone participating. I also couldn’t help noticing nobody was in their store all the time.
That outlet vanished not long after but I always remember that as the perfect embodiment of the self righteous, hard ass attitude evangelicals have toward anything involving harmless fun.
William October 13th, 2015 at 16:58
Let me see if I understand this.
The Christian conservatives are offended by tales of ghosts and goblins….BUT.
They are ok with a guy rolling back a stone and rising up from the three days after a grisly death by Crucifixion .
Got it.
